Francis died at 7:35 a.m. Monday at his residence, the Vatican said. In an statement released Monday, the Vatican said Francis died of a cerebral stroke, coma and subsequent irreversible heart failure.

"We don't have a lot of details," said CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook. "But the bottom line is, you know, he had all these underlying conditions. He had the stroke, which is [when] you have too little blood supply to the brain. That can cause death in a number of ways, including shutting down the ability— the centers in the brain that allow you to breathe normally, and even the centers that allow the heart to work correctly."

I think he'll swing towards being Catholic.

Personally, I'd like to see a DEI hire Pope. Perhaps one that actually cares about the Bible might be a good place to start.

Pope Francis was a public heretic. There's no viable way he can be considered a Catholic based on his words and actions. In order to be a legitimate Catholic, one has to accept certain beliefs and doctrines. If one deviates from them, one becomes a heretic and a heretic is no longer a member of the church until they change their beliefs/actions.

The cat is out of the bag on that. Catholic popes haven't been particularly concerned with such matters in centuries. At least Francis had some compassion. I mean things like purgatory and indulgences were around for ages, a long with all the blind eyes being turned to sexual abusers and pulling adoption services out of places where local regulations require placing children with gay parents.

It's a bit of a pot calling the kettle black at this point, even if things have improved enough that we aren't likely to get another Spanish inquisition.
