Over the years US colleges and highschools have had numerous reports of racist and sexist behaviour. I can relate as this (and particularly sexual assault) has also been a major national issue here in Australian university campuses.

One of the reasons why this perpetuates is universities, colleges and schools have chosen to not actually prosecute actual breaches of racism and sexual assault. But instead hide behind policies.
the problem has been around for years

And the current US government has no made it easier for places of education to not report incidence of bullying, harassment and violence on campus

A interesting case recently is an incident of organised harassment of a black student in a predominantly white college called St Mary's in California.

When the student's parents reported the bullying and racist graffiti scrawled on the dorm room threatening to kill the student, the local police were called and commenced an investigation of a hate crime.

But the president of the college, instead of finding the perpatrators, simply issued a letter to parents circulated as damage control

If you read the letter Dr thomson advised the student to seek a transfer rather than actually seek to find the culprits.
It nicely illustrates why a toxic culture remains on college campuses and highschools, when nothing is done to address the perpatrators but steps are taken to expel the victims.

^^^ bullying, harassment and sexual exploitation of students is a serious issue. I posted this because in 2025 it amazes me that the solution a president of a college came up with was for the victim to transfer from St Mary's college to another college, rather than a) address the persistence of a toxic campus culture in St Marys and b) identify the perpetrators whom the victim likely knows whom they are.
