I usually don't quit jobs on the spot unless it gives me extreme anxiety and I get overwhelmed. I've done that twice and both jobs involved customers, and this was before I found out I was on the spectrum. I currently work as a school bus driver and since the school year is almost over I have to find some other work to do. I've been a little frustrated about what I can and can't do now that I'm fully aware of my diagnosis. A relative ask me what I was going to do for the summer and I had expressed that concern to her. She cut me off telling me that one of the jobs I had quit was because I was lied to about the type of work I'd do and it had nothing to do with autism. And she proceeded to say she'd do the same thing. It made me frustrated and angry because she wouldn't listen. I have no one to talk about it because no one in my household understands and apparently doesn't seem to want to understand. I have joined a support group but there isn't much communication with them. It's so overwhelming to not have anyone to relate to in person.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

People who are not autistic usually do not understand us. It is frustrating.

Are the any summer camps in your area that need bus drivers? You are qualified for that job.

There are a few things I can do, it was just moreso the frustration of her not listening. I needed to vent. But I've realized even before my diagnosis when I would try to explain things to people they just couldn't understand and it really has been hard.

We are here for venting.

Well, I'm glad I found this platform to do so.
