Hi everyone!
I'm a 38/m from Canada, late-diagnosed at 31.
I've been on a journey to find 'my people', as I'm sure many others are.
I copy/pasted the questions from 'Questions about you' here, since that seemed like a good way to introduce myself! Coming up below:
-----------
What is your first name? Tim
Age: 38
Location: Alberta, Canada
Hobbies and Interests: Game design, writing and listening to music, desktop computers, PC gaming, game modding, some science/space/physics, ethics, progressivism, and not taking things too seriously except progressivism, haha. I'm also starting to get a bit into D&D but it's impossible to find a group. I'd love to DM a game.
Why are you here? Socializing, connecting with people when it's hard to find my people.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): ASD, 2018.
Favorite subjects: Music, Education, Philosophy
Year/Grade: Employed full-time. Working on MA in Adult Education. Have a BA Philosophy, and a couple of college diplomas in IT and engineering. It's been a journey...lol.
Favorite music: Symphonic metal (eg. Nightwish), video game soundtracks, some techno/trance/anything novel and catchy.
Books: Pedagogy of the Oppressed (P. Freire), Globalization, Lifelong Learning and the Learning Society (P. Jarvis)
TV shows/Movies: Lucifer, Manifest, Evil, Stranger Things, From, Lord of the Rings, D&D Honor Among Thieves
Instrument: Bass recorder, keyboard, trumpet (all casually)
Do you like sports? I don't follow sports, but I can usually enjoy playing casual sports with the right group. It's just too hard to get enough people together to actually do it, so I honestly don't even know anymore.
Family: Just me. I prefer to choose my family - my favourite people.
Clothing: Whatever fits. I hate wearing brands.
How did you find this website? Google search for autism forums. I was looking for something smaller than Reddit, where I can maybe actually get to recognize and know people.
Job: IT and computer stuff (teaching, admin, etc.)
Plans for the future? Whatever is sustainable. If I can afford it and it doesn't suck, it's in the plan, though even that's a tricky bar to hit.
