Can eating a lot of fast food, sweets, drinking coca cola instead of water cause sleepiness and sleeping over a dozen hours in a day?

I'd be more worried about diabetes as a symptom of that diet.

I'm not a Doctor but in my humble opinion it sounds like that could be a possible side effect of eathing those types of foods. Maybe the sugar ends up spiking and then a kind of crash comes after. I do alot of the same things. Mostly drink 12 oz cans of soda (usually at least 1 a day) and then eat fast food maybe a couple times a week. I feel like for those on the autism spectrum it can be difficult to eat healthy because we like certain textures and flavors. It's not impossible to eat healthy but can be a challenge. I hear it can be beneficial to see a nutritionist. I thought of doing that myself.

It seems there's some truth in that.

Also tryptophan can increase serotonin and melatonin, and carbohydrates can push them into your brain. That could all make you sleepy, if there's such a thing as junk food that contains tryptophan. And pigging out can cause drowsiness because the blood gets diverted to the digestive system.

I don't eat unhealthy food, but I can find it harder to sleep if I'm a bit hungry. Contrary to the common advice, I'm better off eating just before bedtime, though I try to avoid fat in case it gives me heartburn.

Yes, it makes you indolent and impacts how you think. Whenever I just have high sugar, high fat food I 100% feel worse the next day, especially without exercising.
