I feel like during my lifetime there has always been a war at least somewhere in the world

Is there any such thing as "peace time" or is war just a part of life and that's it

I remember back in 2014, when we pulled out of Afghanistan, reading lots of articles about how 2015 was going to be the first year in 100 years when Britain wasn't involved with a military conflict somewhere in the world.

I don't actually think it happened though.

It's so dumb. The vast majority of people just want to get through their day. And then there's a few people at the top with too much time on their hands who seem to want to occupy themselves with war and everyone else gets dragged into it.

I don't know why we let them do it.

^ Whenever a democratic leader starts banging on the war drums, they need to be in the front. You know how bad a$$ that would be on the world stage? All the dictators would look so scared while our leaders go to lead from the front. We don't give a poop. This is a democracy. We have thousands of people waiting to take their place. That, or maybe the leaders would stop having the wonderful idea of sending other people to war on their behalf.

^Yeah, that's how it used to be. The old Kings were warriors who would be right there on the battlefield, often with their own brothers and sons fighting alongside them. I bet there'd be a lot fewer wars if that was still the case.

China has focused on developing its economy and stayed away from war for decades. For me, I have no idea what war looks like.
There have indeed always been wars in this world, from before humans dominated the earth to the present day, and they have never stopped.I believe that the future will be peaceful. Even if I believe it firmly, it can only be called an ideal.

I can recall once in the late 70s hearing it said on the news that there was no major conflict happening anywhere in the world at that time. I suppose that may have been right before the USSR invaded Afghanistan? I think it was a very brief episode of unusual world peace.

Well now, it has been documented for years that the corporation, that is the United States ,and its economy ARE
based on a Wartime Economy . When US production of weapons and weapons development are principal to having
a active economy . War is aweful ! and has no consideration for human life . Who needs to worry about population control, when you can have people die , "en Masse "and help big companies make more Profits ? . The Earth needed Peace along time ago

It hardly ever happens, and probably the only reason it happened then was that the USSR and US had large sections of the world blocked off and weapons pointed at the other bloc. I think there were also fewer countries at the time as a bunch of countries split apart during the late '80s and into the '90s.

Your life (and mine) have been in peace time, not because there were no wars, but because they weren't fought in your homeland.
