For those who haven't heard of an Instant Pot, it is a combination pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, and a few other things. Sometimes it is called a "multicooker".

My pressure cooker is old and brittle and I'm thinking of replacing it with an Instant Pot. Is that a good idea or should I just get another pressure cooker?

One of my favorite things to cook in a pressure cooker is pulled pork. I brown some country style pork ribs in a pan, rub in some seasoning rub, add a little liquid smoke, add water, and then pressure cook for an hour. When it is done, I take it out, extract the bones (sometimes the bones are real crumbly by that time), and shred the pork. Done right, this is fantastic.

And, of course, I like to cook various kinds of beans in a slow cooker, but that generally takes hours.

I already have multiple rice cookers. I tend to go through a 20 pound bag of rice about every ten months. My favorite rice cooker is one that Comet Rice was selling in the early 1980s -- something like two proof of purchase and seventy five cents. It has There is something similar rice cooker called a Charleston Cooker.

So yay or nay? Any suggestions on specific features or specific multicookers?

I can wholeheartedly recommend an Instant Pot. I've used mine loads over the years as both a pressure cooker and a slow cooker.

I ordered the Instant Pot.

Both WalMart and Amazon were out of the model I wanted.

WalMart showed a number of them with labels like "5 in stock" but then when you clicked on it to try to buy, it told you it was out of stock. That got really aggravating. I ended up finding one similar to the one I wanted on Amazon and got the last one. It is estimated to arrive next week.

The one I wanted hand a stainless steel pot with a handle on each side. The one I ordered had a stainless steel pot but without handles.
