I've admitted my dissatisfaction with Black Mesa. It's a fine remake, but the devs changed it so much with recent updates that it no longer feels right anymore. The AI is way too smart. It's incredibly unfriendly towards casual players. While it does have auto aim, the devs screwed that up too. You can't get away from an enemy that moves up close when you're center focusing on him at all times.

I like the game, but I don't love it. I just can't.

I wish NHL 95 had fights in it.

The game where I'm currently most active at is a mobile gacha dress up game.

When playing The Sims franchise, I used the CTRL cheats whenever possible to keep my Sims alive and happy.

Until the Sims 4 I never fully realized just how evil a company EA games really is even though I had heard plenty of criticism and had a number of problems with their other games.

I finally got The Sims 1 running, and it's the first time I've ever played the first Sims game on PC, up until now I have only played console versions of The Sims 1.

But the game is hard! Trying to keep my Sims' needs filled while they work or build up skills is a lot harder than the later games. And there aren't any weekends or holidays for them to take time off. I can let them take a day off but if I do it too often they'll get fired.

I'm trying to get back into chess - years ago, I used to play a couple of friends regularly, but they were so far beyond me it just got dispiriting. I've just joined Chess.com and I'm basically just playing the weakest bot, the deliberately borked "Martin", over and over again until I stop flinching every time a piece moves.

I never beat a single RPG. I only usually get about midway at best  . I am not very good at them but I do enjoy them for the music and gameplay. My best friend is amazing at them and I am just in awe of how he's able to do it. I think it takes practice.

You can always look up hints or tips or outright solutions on places like YouTube if you are stuck at a particular point in a video game and want to speed things along.

I find RPG's generally easy to beat, but I have been playing video games continually since I was a kid, so I have thousands and thousands of hours of experience.

Some games are harder than others though, and usually this is reflected when those games are reviewed.

That's true! I could have gotten strategy guides but just never did it. When I was younger in games like Final Fantasy VII I would run from some of the battles and should have just did them to level up more. I think the term is "Grinding" I think. I used to get impatient with it. I should go and try it again sometime :)

Yeah, grinding can often be a pain, but can be the only way to progress realistically in some games.

That's true! I think I could have more patience with it now then I did then.

I grow weary of terms like "Git Gud" and "Skill Issue" every time my permanent casual skill level is humbled by an unfair difficulty spike. Can't they just go back to telling me "Lol, you suck, kys"?

Although I don't play video games any more, the most fun video games I ever played were the Metal Slug series for Neo Geo. It's similar to Contra, but more cartoon-like, fast-paced and humorous (warning: by today's standards, some may think it contains politically incorrect themes... note that it's for the *gameplay*, as in the physics, that I enjoy it so much - not those themes).

I revisited this when at an acquantaince's house, and he showed me a "Mister FPGA" project he built. We played a round of Metal Slug X on some wireless Xbox controllers. It had me laughing at how ridiculous and "over the top it is". The game rewards you for going completely crazy. The weapons and driving the tanks are fun, also totally unloading all the grenades on the bosses, etc. :D
