Has that antagonism been one-sided or reciprocal?

Following the Iranian Revolution and the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty in 1979, Iran adopted a sharp anti-Israel stance. Iran cut off all official relations with Israel. Iran ceased to accept Israeli passports, and the holders of Iranian passports were banned from travelling to the occupied Palestine. The Israeli Embassy in Tehran was closed and handed over to the PLO. Ayatollah Khomeini declared Israel an "enemy of Islam and the Little Satan".
At the same time, Iran provided support for Islamist-Shia Lebanese parties, helping to consolidate them into a single political and military organization, Hezbollah, and providing them the ideological indoctrination, military training and equipment to attack Israeli targets.
So would say the traffic was one-way. And Iran was one of many wolves prowling on Israel's door.

So Israel hasn't repeatedly bombed Iran since 1979?

I'd say Israel has given Iran plenty of reasons to view them as an enemy, even if it's fair to say Iran's realignment was the initial cause of the relations souring.

I'd say you are knowledgeable enough about Israel's history to know the IDF take the view strong retaliation is the most effective way to communicate strength and concurrently deter future hostility in the region. Current affairs in Gaza suggest the IDF are still following this method of engagement. Iran is a far more dangerous threat because of their extreme view of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict as "holy war" plus Iran's potential to make and use nuclear weapons.

One of the unfortunate consequences of overthrowing Saddam was that it meant that Israel and Iran weren't both more focused on Iraq. After Saddam was overthrown, it removed them from being a major target of Iranian weapons.

I don't agree with your framing that Iran is an irrational actor but Israel is not.
Israel is nuclear armed state being ran by a scared criminal (Bibi) who's beholden to a death cult (Revisionist Zionists), but somehow you and other shills for Israel want to present Iran as the irrational actor because they're big scary Muslims or whatever.
Re-read your own post. Somehow Israeli aggression is merely "communication", so we can pretend Israel's violence doesn't count as a major factor in why Iran (or others) might seek to defend themselves from *checks notes* Israel's violence.
Imagine seriously trying to insist that a country with a long track record of terrorism and meddling in the affair of it's neighbours doesn't represent a legitimate threat to said neighbours and that those same neighbours are in fact the real problem.
