One of my favorite students is moving to a trailer park in another town. This Friday is our last day of school and it could possibly be the last day that I'll ever see her. The reason that she's my favorite is because I've never met another child with as much in common with me as her. We have VERY similar first names. We have the same middle name. We both have French last names that are very similar. This young lady has trouble focusing on her school work, but she's always very polite and funny. She's always telling me about all the fun she's going to have when her Mémère picks her up from school, which is almost every day. When she moves, she told me she's only going to be allowed to see her Mémère on special occasions like holidays because her Mémère lives right down the street from where she lives now. The reason her family decided to move is because they wanted to live in a safer neighborhood where the girl could safely play outside with other of other kids. I'm not sure I'm going to handle it when she moves. I have talked to this girl everyday for the last 4 years since she was in Kindergarten. I almost don't want to see her on the last day and say something because I don't want to tear up. I wish I could give her my school Email so she can Email me and tell me how she likes her new school. Then I could share her responses with the other teachers and kids should she write something. I'm not sure if I can do that though.
