I noticed there is no publically-findable Matrix "room" for Autism. These "rooms" are easy to create. So I created one (I made it a private room for now, but may change it to public later, which is a supported feature). My username in Matrix.org is the same username, as I use here in this forum.
Free, and Open Source Matrix clients like Fluffychat or Element can help one create a free Matrix account.
The room has an "Invite" feature as well.
My intention for this room is as follows:
-for random chatroom-style discussion, but is non-threaded (this is in contrast to how threads are topically organized here, in this forum)
-for those who are formally diagnosed with Autism - at least at first
-intended for those who have user accounts here - thereby establishing some sense of who each user is (keeping the same username would help me to recognize you, then see how/what you post here)
-I turned on the encryption - hopefully keeps the watchful eye of all AI bots away.
-Please keep it civil and non-raunchy
-Live Video/Voice chat disabled in the room
-not a platform for religion. Don't mention specific religions/religious teachings/religious leaders. Discuss that all elsewhere.
What do you think? Would a Matrix room be of any help or benefit?
Note: Fluffychat and Element are nice, modern apps - will look nice on mobile devices. I've tried both and prefer Fluffychat, personally.
