There was a misunderstanding in a family group text that was not my fault. I finally realized in my sleep what had happened. But anyway, I was led to believe (because of everyone else's bad communication) that we were all gonna play cards together. I had wanted to play with the two visiting relatives because one is older and in bad health so I probably won't see him again.

This is the last mention of it in the text messages after the other people said they weren't playing. The one relative who's visiting texted me saying "we could play at the restaurant or I think we're playing cards at Jane's house Monday". To me, that comes across like an invitation, because first he's saying we could play at the restaurant and that's very clear cut. But then he says they're playing at Jane's so that seems more like an invitation than a comment because why else say that in the same text, right? Why flaunt the fact that they're playing on Monday in my face, so it must be an invite. Jane is his sister, my relative.

I talked to him later and said I'd like to play with them, but Jane hasn't invited me and I don't think it's appropriate to show up uninvited. He said he'd ask Jane and let me know. Then later when meeting with other family, he mentioned to another relative about cards at Jane's on Monday, again it sounded like an invite, just not a direct invite.

Can anyone analyze this and translate it into understandable English? I don't understand why people can't be more clear when they communicate. I learned certain social and communication skills from good wholesome family sitcoms of the '80s and '90s and that's where I learned about these deranged types of invites. I can't even find the words to describe them. But in the TV shows I watched, this type of invite was indeed an invite.

But I'm really struggling to understand this whole thing. At some point later, I'll probably share the whole group text so you all can understand how poorly these people communicate. What a mess. It's definitely not me because my mom was also confused and she's not autistic.
