Imagine a world where there was no writing at all, no fantasy stories
or religious content of any kind, no greek fables etc,
apart from technical and blogs where people talked about
their actual lives and real events.

Then, for the first time out of the blue, a book 'series is published
and ebooked called Lord of the Rings.'

With zero to compare it to, would the world embrace it like mad, or would they ban it?
Thoughts? (also: if this does not fit this forum, let me know, I will remove it.) cheers.

A world without fiction would definitely suck.
If Hobbits and Gollum were to be suddenly dropped on mankind without any past fiction, I can only imagine people would react negatively to something beyond their comprehension.
Thank the Lord that isn't the case, or else there wouldn't be much to live for!

A world that embrace the Lord of the Rings would have invented fictional writing long before it got published. So, a world without fiction would not see the point with a fictional story like Lord of the Rings.
