Hi! It's been a while since I posted but wanted to ask if anyone struggles with heart palpitations. I have been getting them for the past two weeks. I had a ECG (Echocardiogram) done and they showed up as PVC's (Premature Ventricular Contractions). I have been trying to figure out what is causing them but it's hard to know exactly what it could be. I know anxiety can be a cause as well as stress. When I get them I sometimes feel light headed and sometimes chest pain. I am wearing a Holter Monitor this week to see how frequent they are.
Over exercise can do it, especially something like running fast or cycling fast for long periods of time. But other than that I don't have experience. I sometimes get suddenly high heartrate during a cycle ride or run which can go into the low 200s (I'm 50, and that's very high for me), I usually rest until it lowers and then continue my ride/run but carefully and at a much reduced pace. A cold or flu etc, can also increase the likelihood of it occurring during cardio exercise running/cycling. When it happens I usually take it as an indicator to rest more.
Definitely worth getting professionally checked over.

Thank you for sharing frollpoff! I used to get it when exercising or running fast too. The PVC's seem like they have dropped in frequency from when I posted this originally. I found out after a thyroid antibody test last week that I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I think my low thyroid levels may have contributed to it some or it may have been anxiety. I remember how I used to get heart palpitations after running on the treadmill. It's possible they may still be happening and I'm not noticing them now. Hopefully the frequency stays low.
You're not alone. I've been there too. I used to go out of rhythm a lot, sometimes up to two days. My normal vitals there used to be a resting rate of 100 bpm and skipping every fourth beat. After getting put on blood pressure medicine, my pulse went down to 80 bpm at rest and hardly any skipping. But every once in awhile I do the palpitation thing and struggle to get back in rhythm. My doctor, who had me wear the monitor a couple times, diagnosed me with A-fib and taught me some techniques to get back in rhythm when that happened.
A few years ago I went out of rhythm in a way that I got scared. I went to my doctor, had an EKG an he put me in the hospital. I had to have a cardio version. That was interesting because they couldn't get me to go to sleep under the anesthesia and said I laughed throughout the procedure. Anyway, the heart doctor said I had A-flutter in addition to the A-fib, so he put me on Diltiazem in addition to my blood pressure medicine.
Interesting, these past two weeks I too have had some palpitations that have subsided, but I fear I might have to have help again if I can't get back into rhythm. Hang in there, and I hope all works out well for you.
