So my sister and her partner and their 1-year-old have been having a cold on and off for over a month, and just Sunday the little girl was sick a lot of times. They put it down to eating a bit of chocolate, but then on Wednesday my sister was sick at work about 4 times, but for some reason didn't go home. My first aunt went to stay over there Wednesday night to be there on Thursday to look after the baby while the parents were at work, even though they were both ill and didn't go to work on Thursday. On Wednesday night while my aunt was there, my sister's partner was then sick, along with fever and aches. So obviously there's some sort of bug going around there, although they've had colds for a while now too. It seems to be quite catching. My first aunt did pick up a cold from them a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway I'm worried my first aunt will catch whatever they've had, because I am invited to my second aunt's for dinner on Sunday but she is seeing my first aunt on Saturday and she might be harbouring the bug. Then my second aunt could then harbour it from her and give it to us on Sunday when we have dinner. If it's norovirus then it spreads like wildfire. I have had a bad experience with norovirus and am left terrified of it. But someone said it sounds like covid, and now I'm terrified of catching covid in case vomiting has become a symptom of it and it means I'll vomit, as my sister and her partner and baby were all vomiting.

I have severe Emetophobia and can't stand vomiting. I didn't know vomiting was now a symptom of covid? Please someone reassure or provide me with some answers.

You don't feel comfortable re-scheduling the dinner, Tamaya?

Completely reasonable to want to avoid a bug that's going round :)

Yes, rather wait until everyone's well again; they will understand.

Well I'd rather not have to reschedule if I can help it, as I've been looking forward to this for weeks. I don't often get to see my second aunt as we have different busy schedules. But if it is norovirus I don't trust that virus because all the antibacterial wipes and hand gels that I own don't seem to kill norovirus, only covid. It will mean I'll have to go out and buy wipes specially to kill norovirus, but they're hard to find and usually can only be ordered online, which I don't think would get delivered by Sunday, two days away (I don't have prime). My husband isn't the best at washing his hands. I think my sister should do a test really.

So he'll be doing his considerable best from his side, and you'll be doing what you can from this side - you'll be meeting in the middle, like. :-)

^ either way you end up choosing. Hope he'll give you strength and comfort.

So does that mean you're going to risk it and go

I phoned the second aunt (the aunt's I'm going to dinner with on Sunday). She said she's not going to be seeing my first aunt or my sister tomorrow, so that's okay then lol. We're safe. God I hate vomiting.

Yeah.

It sounds to me like norovirus, not covid. I know toddlers do pick things up but God damn. I think I'm starting to quite comfortably settle on the decision that I am not going to have any children. I shall just stick to having rats. They physically cannot vomit.
