Hello lads,

I've just received a private message from wrongplanetsupport asking me to click a link to hand over my bank details.

If you get this private message, delete/report.

Don't click the link.

Don't give your bank details.

All the best :)

I unfortunately clicked the link because I just signed up and I had a problem verifying my email address, so I thought it was legit. I've frozen my debit card now. It was an effective scam in my case because the narrative of the scam email exactly matched the issues I had dealt with minutes prior.

It sounds like you've got it handled, EmpireHonda, but sorry you've had the hassle.

Jeez what a welcome to the site!! D:

Thank you, babybird. I wasn't bothered but it was a good effort for a scam... I was really hoping I could get people on the alert.

(Sorry again, EmpireHonda.)

I received the message too. I thought at first I had been banned for something I didn't know I'd done.

I knew it was spam but it looked quite legit to newcomers or vulnerable people. Please don't give it any sensitive information.

I didn't get that message. Yet another way for me to feel excluded.

I understand that lol. Sometimes when everyone else has had something unpleasant happen to them except me, I can't help but feel left out or excluded. I think it's an RSD thing.

I am sorry you felt that way, MaxE.

^ oh I see you are a Java and JavaScript programmer! I reckon they definitely would not have sent it to you, seeing that :) they'd have wanted to avoid the tech-savvy people.
