This is about something that will completely change the internet in a way that we will never get used to. There is no easy way around it so it's best to talk about it now. This effects not just content creators, but also websites, and the economy. This is about those online safety acts that are being passed into law to protect kids. Doesn't sound so bad until you learn that AIs are being used to detect who is and who isn't over 18 online and they're not very smart as they analyze what you upload and what you watch to determine how old you are even you use an ID. There's a controversy surrounding providing personal info to prove you're 18 and above regarding saying goodbye to more and more privacy and anonymity. AIs can be fooled and they can give out false positives. VPNs will not help. They may seem like a solution, but countries are monitoring how VPNs are used will find a way to make them useless. Many countries are starting to put out their own online safety act and the fines differ with each country should Google or YouTube violate each law. The fines may stack and take down entire websites. For content creators, this is COPPA on steroids. Be kid friendly and you lose revenue, be age restricted and you lose viewership. Being for general audiences 13 and up is not entirely possible anymore. The internet is going to get worse. If you have a politician who will listen to you, let them know about this.
