What if the Internet had been available to us as children?

I often wonder if the Internet is sucking out our intelligence.

I grew up in the 90's and 2000's, so we had Internet, but my parents wouldn't let me use any kind of message boards or social media until I was 18 because they were overprotective and thought I would get baited and molested by sexual predators. Ironically, I actually was molested at one point, but it was by a family friend that my parents trusted, so fat lot of good that overprotectiveness did. But I digress.

I mentioned Haidt, but I don't necessarily agree or disagree with him. He's just someone who has appeared in various places discussing young people and the Internet. In fact it's because YouTube put him in my feed a few times.

I really think kokopelli is right.

And my parents let me use our computer in the 90's when I was in grade school, and I received a porn add email on AOL. That was my rather abrupt introduction to the birds and the bees. Back then I think AOL loaded whatever image was attached to the email by default.
