I have been making attempts to join the gothic/rivethead subcultures but so far, I haven’t made any new friends in it. Besides only one person I kept in contact with after high school, I don’t have any friends who are goths or rivetheads. I have been buying the clothing for the subcultures when I have the money for it and I have been going to two different hangouts when I can. I feel like my life would be better if I could be a part of either subculture and I could possibly finally get a girlfriend. I just still struggle to socialize.

What would you need to do in order to become part of those subcultures, besides buying/wearing the accepted uniform?

I think the next step is to socialize with the people there, even if it's a struggle.

I have made some attempts to socialize with people at the hangouts I know of. Sometimes I get a conversation or two. I did get a phone number and an online means of contact at different times with two different people but one of the women moved away shortly after I met her and the other ghosted me sometime after we met in person for the first time.
