American Independence Day ("Fourth of July") is this coming Saturday (2026-07-04). In the 'States, Independence Day is usually observed with parades, picnics/cookouts, and fireworks in the evening. I feel curiosity over how other people might be observing the day, and if they're even observing it at all. Do you intend to celebrate? And if so, how?

I don't celebrate it anymore. I do miss fireworks though.

I usually find live fireworks streams on YouTube and elsewhere and follow them from EST to PST. Some of them are a lot of fun, especially the streamers who walk around a while after.

Will this year be good? Hard to say. I mean it's a sad state of affairs, but there's also a good possibility that this will be our last Independence Day.
Will we go out with a whimper or a bang?

We expect to travel out-of-state and be with younger (than us) relatives on the 4th.

The younger relatives will likely be noisier than the fireworks. :-?

I find this holiday to be too depressing these days because half my country has sold their souls to a fascist and the other half thinks being an American should be the most shameful hated thing on the planet these days...

Besides my Mom has to work on July 4th so we wont be doing this holiday even if we wanted to.

It hasn't happened yet, but my family and I will watch a fireworks show that will happen on live TV.
