Hey! I'm glad WP is back! We have a "Sensory Store" opening today here and I didn't even know about it. Some friends saw it and asked me if I wanted to go with them to check it out. I did! So, I go in and standing right there, being interviewed was none other than THE Temple Grandin! It was very busy in there so I didn't want to A) be awkward standing around waiting for her to be done getting interviewed, and B) add to any overwhelm with the crowd, but I was able to tell my NT friend about her. I wish I could have shook her hand and thanked her for all she's done to help the community. So, I'm putting that here instead. Thanks for listening! Wow! What a cool lady!! :D 8O :o :D

Jealous! I'd love to meet Temple Grandin, I really admire her. I like that she discourages defeatist attitudes and encourages playing to one's strengths.

That is such a cool experience! I'm sure if I ever saw her, I'd be too intimidated to say hi. But I think that sounds great you were able to talk about her with your friend.

Yes!! You never know, my friend might just look in to her and read about or listen to something she's said. I feel like NTs everywhere should HAVE to listen to at least one of her lectures.

Oh yeah, definitely, I think that would be good. She was probably for sure the first autistic woman I learned of after my diagnosis, and I was so surprised at her.
I remember though, when I learned about how she thought in pictures, and I at first wasn't sure if that was me. I hadn't really thought about my thinking very much. I thought words = thoughts. And, I don't have a photographic memory. But as I have gotten a bit older now, I know I definitely think in pictures, feelings and concepts at first, the words come later as I try to translate the thoughts into words.

Recently I remember seeing on her instagram or youtube, Kaelynn Partlow got to meet Temple Grandin. I enjoyed watching that too, feeling very inspired... and Kaelynn announced there is a plushie Temple Grandin with a cow that I was so tempted by.... but I really shouldn't, I have so many plushies already. I first heard of her from my ex teacher, who I obsessed over due to unfortunate circumstances. Now I know how more popular autism is and how it effects certain minds. I am only 20 years old but feel inspired to become the next famous autistic. but lack that confidence have the time. I don't think Temple Grandin has to deal with that confidence factor though. Prove me wrong lol

Also: am looking for friends that are easygoing and talkative. feel free to PM/DM me if interested. I don't bite, I promise.
