@Mona Pereth

My guess is that they're trying to resurrect the cultural and societal norms of the 1950s--or at least the 50s as portrayed on TV.

In some ways, they've succeeded. Here are some examples:

1. Overturn of Roe v. Wade

2. Return of the "everyone I don't like is a communist" mindset.

3. Attempts to put LGBTQ+ people back in the closet. Ironically, even in the 50s, it was an open secret that some celebs were gay (Liberace, Rock Hudson, etc)

4. Attempts, some successful, to mandate Bible teachings in public schools.

I think Trump's legacy will be that he pushed "the America first" attitude a step to far, ruined the relationship with Europe, weakened America internationally and made it lose it's soft power.

Not to mention the fact that he's divided his own country with hostilities on levels not seen since the 1960's and has made racism, sexism, and homophobia popular again.

I wouldn't even call it a reset to the 1950's. More like the 1850's when slavery was still OK and women had even less rights than they did in the 1950's.
