Maine Senate candidate Platner accused of sexual assault

Of course if the accusations are true, he shouldn't be in office.

Yet the Maine race is pivotal in determining Senate control. Is it still worth it to support Platner despite all he has been accused of?

The race is generally considered a toss-up, with one poll slightly favoring Collins.

The Dems nominated a clunker of a candidate here; Collins will Platner by a wide margin IMO.

It's not surprising that an advocate of Platner, Senator Bernie Sanders,
has called for Platner to drop out of the campaign with Democrats expressing opinions about who
should replace Platner in it.

And he's gone. Good riddance, no sex pests should ever be anywhere near power.

I do fear that, like many other powerful white men, he will never face any consequences. And then on top of that, he now has reason to "turn right wing" and turn into a grifter. It's the only avenue left for him, because the right have no problem propping up sex predators.

The irony in all this is that Susan Collins is one of the very few Republicans of which I have even a slight modicum of respect.

The question is who will the Dems run now, and can that person make a case fast enough for the people of Maine? If Angus King III is that person, it would be interesting to have father and son serving in the Senate together.
