It said this on a bottle of dog shampoo.

Who would think that dog shampoo, or any kind of shampoo, can be fed to fish?

A pet store brand would be dumb enough to put that on a bottle of dog shampoo.

When one of my kids were 5 years old he had a small plastic sword and plastic shield. On the shield it was a written warning that is shouldn't be used by the police as a tactical riot gear. He also had a Bobby Car- a four-wheeled vehicle without pedals, on which children can move by pushing with their feet. It had warning on it saying it was dangerous to ride of a cliff on it.

Ah, the lawyers. They're the number one reason some of the weirdest, silliest warnings put on products, especially in one certain country that shall remain nameless that is lawsuit-happy. Maybe someone was dumb enough to feed dog shampoo to their fish, and then sued the company after their fish died, because they didn't put a warning on it telling you that you *couldn't* feed it to them.

Okay, fishies. it's time for your bath!

I'm just "supposing" but what if the shampoo was made with organic ingredients and those ingredients are consumed in nature by fish? However, let's also suppose that not ALL of the ingredients are fish safe. I could imagine in this day and age some young Internet breed whipper snapper seeing something that is thought to be fish food and in an act of desperation feed their fish it because they were unable to pick up something labeled as fish food because their boss kept them late at work. Then the next morning finding their fish Cooper and Sissy floating in the aquarium.

Note the term "Internet breed whipper snapper" is totally arbitrary. It could just as easily be an old fart that is totally ignorant of the ways of the Internet, but remembered Philip Cousteau telling his dad Jacques about how Spirulina is a super food for some fish and sees that as an ingredient in the fish food, and like the whipper snapper ignores that the ingredient that give the dog it's glossy shine is deadly to fish.

This is all beans in/gas out speculation. What do I know about shampoo?

I did a web search "what fish food is also used in shampoo?" and it came up with no results matching the criteria of fish food and shampoo.

What is the shampoo and it's ingredients. Or maybe it is all just whimsical fun on the manufacturer's part like putting "Not Fit for Human Consumption" on a bottle of bleach? Or the need to put warning on McDonald's hot coffee warning it is hot. (to lastonearh35's point, but also people do ... be nice... be nice... be nice... silly things and then sue people because they just learned that ice is slippery and a fall can injure bones.)

I am curious about the name of the dog shampoo.

We once had a jar of peanut butter that said "MAY CONTAIN PEANUTS".

I would certainly hope so.
