I just got inspired by Auntblabby in another thread - thank you for the inspiration, man :D

So my question is: if you could live in ANY house and in ANY environment - for example if you died right now and discovered that in the astral world on the other side of the veil dividing the world of the living from the world of the dead, you could create your eternal home from the delicate astral matter, what would you make it to look like? :D

I would create then a mansion looking like the one that belongs to Julie in the "Heavy Metal F.A.K.K 2" game and it would stand near the shore of the ocean because I would love to live on the island from "Lost" :D I also would love to have a maze surrounding my mansion - like the one from "The Sandman" - you know, Destiny of the Endless and his maze of forking paths if you know the comic books :D And I would love to have the eternal sunset above the ocean :)

I would love to have a bedroom (yes, I know that spirits don't sleep but still) that would look like the one belonging to Joan Collins (when I was a teen, once I saw the photo of it in one illustrated magazine; it had a luxurious canopy bed with white curtains with a green leaf pattern on and the matching wallpapers on the walls) :D And I would love to have many, many books on my shelves - all the books that belong to me now; the ones by my most favorite writers, especially by Stephen King.

I would love my favorite pets live in there with me too - like Żaba the ratter dog and Łapimyszek the piebald cat; they really belonged to my grandparents when they were still alive - both my grandparents as well as their pets :)

My house of dreams would be built like Stalag 13. It would have bunk beds that all my friends and I would sleep in. There would be a working pre-war German TV set in one of the corners and the house would have WiFi. There would also be a simple 40s type bathroom and a kitchenette.

my house of dreams would be atop a tall cliff, overlooking the ocean. on the other side would be a verdant valley with mountains in the distance. there'd be a holographic media room. all the lighting would be non-localized. I'd have a subterranean garage with mint condition Cadillac sedan DeVilles parked in it, pink ones, white ones, red ones, blue ones, gold ones, chrome ones. there'd be an elevator down to the beach, and I'd have a yacht parked down there.

Btw, I wonder how comes that no one else has started a similar thread :D Or at least I never saw here such a thread before.

And oh, I just hit upon another idea - I would love my house of dreams to stand in some distance from a town from Lovecraft's stories on Ulthar and similar places in Dreamland :) And I would love its windows to look out on the places like the sky full of stars, the inside of an ocean etc. - just like in this story: https://homepages.math.uic.edu/~kauffma ... dHouse.pdf

I'd like my house to look like three peas in a pod. My fence would look like a bunch of smaller pea pods in a row. I'd have round shrubs in the front.

I wouldn't mind my house being in the time loop like in the books by Ransom Riggs - I think it would be great if there were zombies like the ones from the Walking Dead roaming behind the barriers of the loop - I would love to be able to see them behind the barriers :D I would know I was safe for as long as I was not going to leave the loop :)

Very large.
Wonderful, peaceful wooded view.

Portions of it having rooms for a library (books & audio disks & video disks).
At least two rooms for watching video disks (to simultaneously entertain two audiences with different interests).

Large, well equipped kitchen and dining area for my bride.
Small, adequately equipped kitchen and dining area for me.

Spacious, well-equipped master suite for me and my bride.
Well equipped guest quarters that could properly care for a number of guests.

Spacious, well-equipped garage for our cars.
Spacious parking for any guests.

Proximity to a nice town.
Proximity to an excellent hospital.

My dream house would be a single level, with an escalator to the basement, and a laundry shoot
My dream house would be self cleaning
My dream house would be surround by patches of selfcare lawn, areas with bushes and flowers, away from the house, and surrounded in patches by tress.

The walks would melt snow, heating enough to evaporate the resulting water. Yes, I would want all the seasons of the year, minus the extreme weather.

My house would be circular with the bathroom in the center, and the ceiling a one way mirror looking up to the sky.
Outside the bathroom, I would like the exterior rooms, between the central bathroom and the outer wall, consist of five segments. The kitchen would be in the north west section of the house and make up a quarter of the space. A computer room/living room in the north east would also take a quarter of the space. The bedroom would be in the south and make up a sixth of the area. Two rooms on either side, south west, and south east, equal in size to the bedroom. They would be for storage or whatever. It would be solar powered, and wind powered. Somewhere, the escalator would need to fit. The laundry room would be in the center of the basement, just below the bathroom, so the laundry shoot drops down from the bathroom.
The walls would not be curved. That would look snazzy but I think maybe impractical. How many facets would make up the surface. Let's say 16 or 32. It depends on the space it takes up. Maybe it would be donut shaped (not tubular though), with a nice court yard and the bathroom would be between he bedroom and living room/computer room

Or it could be just like my real life house I have now, except there would be more space for my computers, books, and media (CD, DVD, and Blu-ray), and a larger kitchen.

Again, it would be self cleaning.

I agree! As much as possible via robots. (We named our Roombas...) And, yeah, heated surfaces so no need to shovel or plow snow.

A quirky little cottage out in the countryside, with no noisy human neighbours.
