i'm a firm believer in the second amendment.

its your right as a law abiding citizen to be able to protect yourself and your property from both criminal elements and rogue government elements (considering patriot act and various homeland security directives....i'd say this is imperative).

The concept of a citizen confronting a tank or a smart missile with a shotgun or even an automatic pistol is more properly a subject for comedy rather than heroics.

Its more like simple escalation. The "police" (that is to say the authorities charged with dealing with breaches of the law, like the police, FBI and ATF etc) in the US have access to armoured vehicles, and can call upon the military for support, like in Waco for example.

If it gets to that point were screwed. When the second amendment was written the worse they had was maybe a big canon to use, now they have everything from smart bombs to geneticly engenered viruses to use against us (V for vendetta anyone).

I don't think they would have enough tanks. Just think about Iraq and the problems there now spread it all over the US and think of how many factions they would get here.

band wagoning? that's not an argument...it's a sales tactic.

also, in the highest density area of civilians who legally own guns, there's the fewest crimes.

i don't see what the problem is with owning a gun. i mean....i guess i could see how personal responsibility might be a problem for some but that's hardly anyone else's fault....i mean it is called personal responsibility.

Guns are good. It gives more power to the people. And if it does come down to tanks used against the people, we'll still have the numbers. Like that song 'Five To One' by The Doors.

Ever heard of guerilla tactics, anyone? There's no need to fight against tanks and missiles, just deny them the ability to operate. There's no need to engage grunt soldiers when you can strike at the generals and politicians that give them orders.
