Oh yeah, I never considered that. Especially since it seems like most of the children molested were boys, a god fearing individual who believes all forms of lust are sinful, especially homosexuality, would do whatever they can to avoid facing god's wrath, and god would never let a priest go to hell.
So if they really are pedos, then I guess what makes it worse in my mind is the holy factor, they are supposed to be messengers of god and holier than thou, but what they did is far from god's will and far from holy. But that doesn't make it any worse than a pedo becoming an elementary school teacher because I can f***ing guarantee you they wouldn't seek that profession if they never planned on touching any kids.
Hard to say which one is worse. It seems like joining a certain line of work just for that reason is worse, but doing something in your line of work that is against the very reason you joined it in the first place and against everything it stands for is also pretty bad.

It's a common misconception, that. A priest is not a messenger from God. A priest is a person (Catholics and Othodox would say a man, but I'm an Anglican) ordained to a role that involves serving the needs of the congregation. The one key difference between a priest and a layman is that when a priest says the eucharistic prayer, the bread and wine become transfigured into the holy gifts of Jesus' body and blood, and can be shared during Holy Communion. Someone who has been granted that honour has the responsibility of serving Christ and refraining from sin as far as they are able so as not to dishonour Christ, but priests are fallible humans like the rest of us.

However, a priest that violates the trust placed in him by a child (and the congregation whose trust has also been abused) and who fails to repent, confess to God and his supervisor and atone through confession to the police, has in my opinion defrocked himself.

it's interesting that hell used to be a bad word. I wonder how long it will take the F word and the S word to lose their "bad word" status...

"b***h" already seems to be going that way...

I believe the Catholic Church's requirement for celibate male clergy is wrong for several reasons, but the risk of pedophile priests is not one of them.

When a man cannot marry, is forced into celibacy - against his nature and biology - where do you think that energy goes and how long do you think it takes before it starts rearing its head? And how much of the dogma of absolution has to do with these excuse the expression *men of G-d*'s rituals of committing a sin, torturing oneself with guilt and then being absolved by someone who already died for their sins. I mean how convenient is that? And the perfect set up for doing the crime without doing the time! And nobody will ever tell and if they do there's always relocation and payoffs.

It sounds too demanding. Well, it is in the imperative tense.....

the fact that b***h is moving first has at least a few gender issues behind it as to why it'd move first.

Interesting. There might also be the female dog label they're using to hide behind to legitimitize it. I seem to recall the T and A words also being used rather freely on network TV, cr*p, too. I used the word cr*p once in 3rd grade and was sent to the principal's office.

I think the idea of "bad words" is patently absurd. They're just words.

But curse words don't have much power. I can say "f**k you", but would you really be offended?
I can insult you without cursing once and truly offend you, so curse words are pretty useless, and I say this even though I curse like a motherf**ker when I talk.

Well f you, has really taken on all kinds of associations, hasn't it. Even during procreation - so hmm. It would depend who said and if they were *you're a pain, but I love you kinda F U* or was it a mean, ogre, raving maniac kind of vibe they were conveying. Either way I think I'd be more surprised than anything, because it's a very rare occurance. I got *keep your act clean* signs all over my property.
