Quite a serious oldskool tune that I used to hear all the time between 1998-99 on mixes, loved it but never had the name. Glad to now. :)

Anyway its been quiet sometime since I've been on this forum. I just wanted to tell you that I saw LTJ Bukem live for the first time in Brooklyn!! I saw him back in April and recorded a little bit of what I could. Fortunately he may come back to NYC next year since he has been coming back the last few years and noticed a bigger crowd each time.

I also just found out Roni Size is coming to Brooklyn next week on October 10th and I immediately bought a ticket to see him! Goldie is also performing in NYC this month but during the same week as Air and Massive Attack which I have tickets to as well.

You said the 'B' word several times - ie. Brooklyn NY. I don't think you'll have any shortage of dnb talent showing up there. The last time I saw Bukem was 2005, it was a good show but I'd probably want to see a whole intelligent dnb line-up for that kind of thing again (even better maybe - a Spatial night with ASC, JLM Productions, Eusebeia, etc.).

I don't know if you had the chance to look a few pages back but my area threw it's first drum and bass BBQ (started at 1 PM on a Sunday and went until around 10 PM). The restaurant apparently closed for the day for a private party / private event and they had about 200 people packed in and old fashion two-story multifamily type slot where one shoebox space is the bar and the other is the eating area (where the tables were removed for a dancefloor). Really fun event but I'm hoping, especially considering that they've got a big parking area on the back, I'd love to see them throw a tent up and host it outdoors. I got to see Dj SS (who I hadn't seen in 26 years), Swift was supposedly around but I never saw him take the decks, and Chris Inperspective was MC'ing (I'm used to him having a UK radio show) and SS ended up doing a bit of MC'ing as well for some of the earlier dj's.

I love the DnB community. Everyone is friendly and the DJs are down to earth. I went to see London Elektricity last Friday in Brooklyn. I talked to some of the DJs that performed before and after him and it was awesome. We exchanged instagram usernames and they offered me to join them at an after party but I turned it down since it was 4AM and the coffee in my system was running out. Not sure if you listen to DrivenAM and Agent 137 but I was talking to them. They told me about all the local DnB events I can go to in the upcoming months. I am definitely gonna go to some of them!

I had this light up mask and coat on that made me stick out of the crowd. You can see reels of me on London Elektricity's instagram page which is so far the highlight of my year!! 8) .
A stage dancer girl gave me a caprisun after her performance because she figured I was hot in my outfit :D .

Seeing London Elektricity live for the first time was amazing. I was also surprised to see so many people that were also big fans of his. LE played an awesome remix of High Contrast's Racing Green.

Oh yeah I saw Roni Size too. He is a lot shorter than I expected. He was also pretty cool too. I was surprised to see how he dressed when he wasn't performing. He looked like someone's uncle  I didn't recognize him until after his glasses came off.

If I remember right London Elektricity is a higher-up at Hospital / Medschool records. There's a South African dj and producer named Stay-C who mentioned that he'd mentored her along the way as far as production went.

Yeah, he's definitely that age now. Suv came through recently but I didn't get the chance to see him. We have a pretty intrepid production crew whose trying to get a lot of high quality events together and that's been interesting to watch. I'm really hoping we get Loxy and Djinn or Mantra one of these days soon.

Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Oh cool I'll check out Stay-C. I also recently discovered Makoto who is also on Hospital Records and collabs with London Elektricity. He is having a show in NYC in March. I bought my ticket already since they said he sold out quick the first time last year. London Elektricity also played a song that he is releasing under Metalheadz label which I forgot what it was called. Also apparently London Elektricity's son was at the show I went to too but he wasn't on the DJ set. LE did play a song that he made with his son.

Do you listen to Muzz? I haven't heard of him but apparently he is a big deal and is the next big DnB artist to perform next month in NYC.

The most hilarious thing when I went to see Roni Size was he told the audience to shout if they were born in certain decades. Most of the audience was born in the 70s and 80s. When he got to the 90s I could hear myself and a few people shout and once it got to the 2000s it was like 2 people shouting   . He felt embarrassed that there wasn't that many young people at his show.

Since it's a public answer I have to be a little cryptic - northern Ohio.

Sounds like either a new international or regional - not familiar but I'll have to look around. Some of our US regionals have been good. I don't know for example if Dave Sewell / 3D still spins out of Chicago but him and Phantom 45 used to have both great tapes and live sets (AK1200 was kind of in that circle also as well as Odi back in my day). I had the opportunity this summer to meet a guy named Mowgli from Cincinnati who did a really good mashup of reggae and dark dnb (his set reminded me of the kind of thing that Double O from Rupture would do).

Yeah, based on the age and time period of the genre (big founding in the 90's) it's been kind of a gen X and early millenial thing but I have to figure that it'll probably catch a Gen Z / Gen Alpha revival. What I don't know however is what AI will do to the genre, let alone any other genre of music, for example will people give up on live performance or will it only be valid for live musicians? Hard to say.
