If you replaced the word "atheists" with "Muslims," or "Christians," or 'Hindus," I imagine this thread would not have been made it to a second page. Just a thought.

People once believed the earth was flat, (apparently some still do) even though that's been proven wrong.
People once believed that the sun revolved around the earth which has been proven wrong.
Perhaps there is no God and those who believe in a theistic religion are wrong.
Perhaps there is a God and atheists are wrong.

I've had a hard time in my life understanding why a person if anything else, wouldn't be agnostic rather than being concretely atheistic. The earth is incomprehensibly inconsequential in relation to the universe and humans, in turn, are mere specks on it. Rejecting even the possibility of an omnipotent God or creator of the universe and instead believing strongly that the possibility isn't even possible. I don't get that.

I guess I am annoying then. Enough religious nutter stories makes me hate religion even more because it's used as an excuse to be homophobic or transphobic or to not take their kid to the doctor and the kid nearly dies from it, parents disowning their kids over religion, parents shoving it in their kids face and forcing it on them and kids being excluded in school from activities because "it was against their religion" and how it made the kid sad and feel so isolated. My mom grew up Catholic and she hated it.

I told my son son once if he wants to believe in god and do a religion, don't ever force us onto it and involve me in it. That is something for him to do alone. If he wants to go to church, he can go when he is old enough but don't ever try and involve me in it.
