I'm pretty sure that the movie needs to be really crappy to qualify. No one's come out with anything just plain awful, except maybe Child's Play so here's mine:

Manaquin (just the first one, of course)

Oh yeah! Chalk me up for that one too! <sigh> Young Kim Cattrall was pretty sexy but I was more drawn to the "Roxie" (Carole Davis) kind of girl. Dark hair, spunky, smart and mean. I was really into mean girls back then. No idea why. Maybe a "taming of the shrew" thing.

OddFinn, I think the question relates to liking movies that the rest of the world hates so much that it's embarrassing to admit you like them.

I really don't care what the rest of the world thinks about my movie likes or dislikes. My guess is, that most of the world thinks nothing about me, because they don't even know I exist. :D But I have never been embarrassed admitting what movies I liked.

Maybe the Matrix trilogy, Alien vs Predator 1 and 2 and Love Actualy. There is probably more that I camt think of at the moment.

And if you include amine, I would also like to include the series Kanokon, only requires a google image search to understand why, but it was enjoyable beyond that.

I don't believe in guilty pleasures, since I believe that you shouldn't feel guilty for liking a certain movie. If you enjoyed it, you enjoyed it and you shouldn't have to justify it. But if there are movies that I like that certain folks would raise a eyebrow at, it would be Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Stupid and goofy humor at its finest.

I think you nailed it... I didn't really get what was supposed to be guilty about these pleasures, movies we like to watch. I guess euphemisms are lost on me. I usually look up exact definitions for them if one can be found. To me, a guilty pleasure in a movie would be defined as something dirty or something you just shouldn't be watching. If someone liked a really base, low reality show, for example, one where the entertainment is derived from watching people bicker and their lives get progressively worse. Maybe a horror movie so gory that you could only enjoy it if you have absolutely no conscience. I can't see feeling guilty about watching Barbie as Rapunzel or Gymkata.

Street Fighter- I have no idea why so many hate this movie. Personally, I find it very addicting.
Plan 9 from Outer Space- A masterpiece in the art of cinema. 'Nuff said.

Props to you for admitting that one! Always reminds me of Raul Julia and happier times.

I agree with the "guilty" thing that people have said.

However, I do feel a little funny about admitting how much I enjoyed "The Black Stallion". The movie wasn't "crappy" by any means, so I don't really know why I'm embarrassed to admit it ... maybe it's considered a children's movie?

I read all 20-something books in the Black Stallion series when I was a girl, and they still hold a special place in my memories.

I'm assuming by Guilty Pleasures you mean movies that most would consider bad or cheesy. In that case:

Cursed (it breaks every cliche in the horror genre, and it's impossible to take the movie seriously, yet it's so fun!)

Mean Girls and the remake of Freaky Friday (both are silly Lindsay Lohan flicks that always cheer me up)

Juno (I don't know if it was considered "bad" but most serious movie-goers think it was highly overrated. It has the most witty dialogue ever in my opinion. Plus I like looking at Michael Cera. ^_^;;)

Batman and Robin (It is the worst superhero movie EVER, but for some reason I love it.)

Freddy vs. Jason (another crappy cliche horror film that I love)

Some of the movies others have listed are my faves too, but I don't consider them bad by any means. Like American Beauty? That was an instant classic.

You must realize that Plan 9 has taken on a life of its own... appropriately enough... and is known by cheese lovers of all ages. Rifftrax has even taken it on, and their version of it is actually going to be shown in theaters in about a week... colorized, mind you. i'm holding out for a complete downloadable 3-riffers edition, hopefully b&w.

Edward Scissorhands. That's been my favorite movie for ten years, and I've watched it dozens of times. It never, ever changes, and it's a comfort and a safe zone for me.
