My understanding was that any noun using the female gender (for example "bok", "mor", "søster", "skive") can also be used as a male gender, so instead of "boka mi" or "mora di" I can use "boken min" or "moren din". I am not sure if this is an intentional simplification of the gender system in language, and I don't know if this is a change specifically for the written language vs. spoken language, but it seems to be a very recent change... like within the last 10 years or something like that?
Not sure. The Norwegian language instruction books I have indicate female nouns as also possibly using the male forms, for example "en/ei bok". My books are supposed to be all bokmål.
Tak for den forklaring. det forklarer hvorfor det af og til kan se lidt "tilfældigt" ud.
