That doesn't auto-update. Alex has to update if every so often. (Somewhere in one of these threads he indicated that.)

Probably you can tell to Alex if you had donated money...

'Hi Alex! I donated $xxx and I hope to get the tag that writes (insert name of tag)...'

I believe the moderators are the ones who would take care of that, but I also believe those tags are for use with the "Support WrongPlanet Awareness" monthly system and not for using the "Donate" button for the new server.

Oh I see. Thank you...

It's alright.

I keep waiting for Alex to tell me who needs a WPSupporter badge, and he says that no one has asked for one.

I haven't got enough money to donate. But I think I would donate to this place before a charity, there was a report that said hardly any of the money donated to charity goes to the cause.

That varies from charity to charity. Smaller charities tend to have smaller percentages of the donations go to the intended causes, with larger ammounts to overhead. Larger charities (IE Unicef, Red Cross, Salvation Army....) tend to have very large portions of the donations actually go to the cause, with only a small percentage going to overhead (management of the charity). If you think about it, this actually makes sense, as there isn't that much difference in the ammount of work needed to be done by larger charities vs small ones in the upper levels of management of the charities.

All money dontated to the Donate Button goes directly to Alex Plank. None of it goes anywhere else, just directly to Alex.

And all money Alex gets will be placed on upgrading this website, am I right? Just to make sure.

Directly to Alex, who created and maintains this website, which saved my sanity and my life and continues to do so. My income is erratic but if I get a dollar or two or three, I'm glad to have a way to put it where my heart and head tell me that I want to.

It's not a competition. It's not a demand. It's a convenience, for people like me who very much want to contribute but whose income is erratic, so I can't guarantee a donation, and even if I could, it's always going to be small.

You must do what you feel comfortable with. It's only a button, not a command.

I'd be very distressed at the idea of Alex being obliged to set up an accounting system and an audit to verify the ultimate use of my $1, which is the only way to "make sure.". I'm retired from 30 years working for tax lawyers. I can tell you that the instant you put a string on a piece of money, you are creating an obligation on the donee. That's the exact opposite of my intention. I don't want an accounting. I want to express my gratitude. It's a gratitude that from time to time whispers in my ear, "What would have become of me without that website that Alex made?" Finally I can respond, courtesy of the Donate button.

Thank you for addressing my concerns. :D
