AutismSpeaks are trying to get pre-natal tests to abort autistic foetuses. That hurts our feelings. I dont see any apology coming from them, or any reversal of their actions.

However, their actions to get the prenatal testing are real and concrete, they are not satire. IMO AutismSpeaks should stay away from here, they have no business with us.

It's been a while since I've gone deep into it, so pardon the out of place question, but is Autism Speaks specifically trying to develop a pre-natal test, or are they looking for the genes involved in AS? If it is the later, while I understand how A is likely to lead to B and B is likely to lead to C, a desire for A can't be equated as a desire for C. I and many other parents would like to understand the genetic component, and having that information would probably help with certain aspects of AS cause as advanced by members here, but I am also fully opposed to developing a prenatal test.
It looks to me like they are. A lot of their research seems to be around finding genes for autism, and that suggests that once they have found which genes are involved, they will have the information they are looking for.
This is called the Autism Genome Project. I cant think of any other application for this information besides pre-natal testing, though it is possible also they might be thinking of some kind of gene manipulation.
However, on their website they are very vague about the exact reason and application for this research they are doing, and to me vagueness can mean that there is something to hide. People only speak in vague languages professionally when they dont want the public to really understand what they are doing.
Also, their executives drive luxury cars. I have worked at a charity for children once, and I remember that they had no heating in the office, and the sink was badly in need of fixing. This was because the charity director was determined that as much of the donation money as possible was to be used for the intended recipients of the charity (children living in poverty).
Noone drove luxury cars. Noone had an "Executive Income$$$$". It meant that I was wearing my winter coat inside the office, but I was impressed by the integrity of the organisation.
I read about the large incomes of the Autism Speaks directors, and I think it speaks volumes about their priorities. Owners of charities should not drive expensive cars.
So, the actual answer is that you have no evidence, only your opinion that A = C despite that the very post you're replying from is from someone for who A does not equal C, who communicates that in her post.
