Can someone please explain what the heck happened here? I've only just got back and I've noticed something weird is going on?
But I must say, that's just can't be possible? Surely its bots or just the google search engines at least?

But how is Wrong Planet able to cope with the load? Previously, I got re-directed to that video of yours, with the famous message that WP was unable to handle the load when that number was only just over a 1000.

If that number is real though, then I'm sure a fraction of them might be previously registered WP members who started lurking here again, since the number of members given is over 40000 anyway.

I think it's misleading to put those two numbers next to each other like that, as if there's some relation, when there's not.

The vast majority (over 95%) of those "online now" are "visitors", either not members, or not logged in.

And, yeah, then there's the issue of, how many of those are bots versus real people?

Although, the 1731 number is pretty impressive. I do wonder over how long of a time period that is. As in, how recently does one have to have accessed the board to count as "online"?
