You're probably right. He/she wasn't that good, just all over the place. I talented troll will often have allies by the time the fit hits the shan, too.

Mr Mark - No offence,but I think the feelings of a new member that's done nothing wrong are more important of the feelings of a troll.

I'm not going to watch him call new members "art fag" and just let them think no-one cares.

I think its quite possible adbatstone actually has AS/PDD himself, which brought him here in the first place. Hes probably in a very dark, misearble & suffocatingly isolated place & the thought of opening up & sharing his emotional state with us fills him with fear & the aggression is a defense mechanism. Maybe he lacks the necessary concepts and/or rolemodels to even concieve of pleasant social interaction. Hes effectively in a hell of his own making. Then again he could just be a malicious c*nt, who knows?

ive had dealings with adbatstone in the chat... he wasnt pleasant to deal with and 100% of the time whinging about his personal life, and how he sucked, and how everyone hated him, and generally seeking attention.

eventually he started insulting people, mainly regulars, freenode staff had to deal with him at one point, and he's perm-banned now... his banning was much celebrated i assure you

Yeah that how I feel. I do not want a person to be thrown away for his words. If he
is a sociopathic person then the hell with him, but I do not think he is. I think he is like us just more unhappy. Is the forum for the most functioning or the most in
need?

I'm pretty unhappy too. But that doesn't mean I start putting down everyone around me. And nor did I when I was much more unhappy.

Well forget the word "unhappy". He could have biological issues. Being depressed and
impulse control problems. Who knows on an anti-depressant and /or other
agents he could be a p**** cat. Oh I'm 36 I would say I was super depressed the
17 -23 years (before I took anti-depressant). I was very negative before treatment.
The fundemental thing Im saying is I want the guy to make it. Others have decided he
should be locked away in a room by himself. I say he should kick down the door
get some treatment comeback hear show you all that he is a good , smart person.
I'm hypersensitive to what people say. Maybe the right words to this guy could
have made a difference. Somebody may have said the last thing he needed to hear
and he over reacted now people feel his life has no value. This guy could save the
entire human race is the way I look at it.

I think you might be generalizing a bit. I think we all want the guy to make it. I don’t think he should be locked away, I just don’t want to be around someone who’s going to behave like that. I judge the behavior, not the person. If he needs to vent hostility, let him go do it with a trained professional who’s paid for that kind of thing. I agree he has impulse control problems. Kind, gentle reality therapy or relationship therapy would be inappropriate at this time. People with problems controlling their behavior need behavioral therapy. Rewards for this behavior, consequences for that behavior. The last thing I wanted to do was give whatshisname any sort of payoff for his behavior. The first thing I did was acknowledge that he was probably in a lot of pain. I didn’t feel there was anything we could do to help him and there was a lot he could do to hurt us. I asked someone once why one person gets professional help and another doesn’t. She said, “When a person is in enough pain, they see their doctor.” It sounds cold, but I don’t think this guy’s in enough pain. I don’t feel this guy’s life has no value, I’m just not going to be treated like mine has none. That’s what I call setting a better example. Maybe he’s reading this now. Maybe these are the right words. Maybe I’m completely wrong, and the frat brats are getting a different lesson. Or maybe I’m making no difference in the world whatsoever, but I have to try, according to my nature. Please continue to try according to yours.

I tried, really hard, to be nice to him. He didn't lash out or get nasty to me personally, but he wasn't about to tell me what was bugging him either.

Whether we did the right thing or not, the damage has been done now. He's been banned, and I'm sure he's discovered that by now. I don't think he'd WANT to come back now. Perhaps we now need to move on, because the issue is now out of our hands.

Well thank you. Some people think I'm a creep. Imagine that.

Maybe he got a proxy and came back using a different username. He could be reading the boards right now, mingling among us like a regular poster, watching, waiting for the moment to strike. He could be anyone of us, he might even have been posting right here... ON THIS VERY THREAD! *shudder*

A guy who went on a negative posting rampage. We are just trying to understand
him (well some of us are). Some are just happy he is gone. My point was its been
a sad thing and I'm not happy about any of it.
