Why are Jews the most famous victims of the holocaust?

I'm not a historian so I have no idea what the real numbers are. I like Scrapheap know if your in the US and you publicly state things like the holocaust numbers are
exaggerated then 99% of the people (who are not bigots) will think your a bigot. Maybe
aspies can not understand the concept of things that are in bad taste (too honest) but
this is a perfect example.

No I understand the concept, I just don't care. Seeing as I'm not a social climber, political correctness and taste mean nothing to me. If people want to think I'm a bigot that's fine, they're obviously as small minded as they're accusing me of being.

There is a new holocaust documentry online that is getting a lot of attention. Its called One Third of the Holocaust.

It is reported that the creator of this documentary is a distingushied professor who was fired because of his holocaust research.

Many do not know this, but there are hundreds of people in western europe who are serveing prision terms for holocaust denial.

In Sweden you can get a couple of months in jail for this. In Germany and Austria you can get 2-3 years...

Without having studied it very much, I understand that Hitler had homosexuals, mentally ret*d, gypsies and Slavics murdered as well as Jews. I have heard more Slavics were murdered than Jews. Hitler aparently said he was not anti-semetic because of religion, but race. He (as I understand) wanted to "purify" the aryan race.

I also believe (cannot back it up) that Stalin was responsible for murdering more people than Hitler.

I'm sure others know better than me and will correct me if this is wrong.

I heard Stalin killed more people than Hitler too.. I think Hitler got more notoriety though because his murders were racially motivated, as this seems to be a very hot botton issue. Still, as sick and evil as Hitler was, I think Stalin was perhaps moreso, even if his murders weren't racially motivated. At the end of the day, murder is murder, it's wrong no matter what way you want to cut it.
Also, Kye, good work for not caring about political correctness. I do not know if what you say holds any truth or not, as I haven't studied it. But I do respect your ability to say what you think without caring what the pc-police think. Political correctness is to modern liberalism what distorted and misinterpreted bible prophecy is to modern conservatism. Their blinders.

Stalin did kill more people than Hitler. He killed his own Russian citizens. Many were executed for disloyalty, others simply starved to death.

Mao Zedong was the biggest dictator-murderer that we know of.

There is also the khmer rouge in Cambodia.

And they are still killing indians in south america for land.

Hitler also killed the physically disabled people, he killed everyone who wasn't the right race or 'normal'.
If Hitler were reigning today all of us would be standing in line for the gaschambers.

The nazists removed several infants from norwergians whom they had killed and put them in nazists families, who could not produce children themselves, the families brought them up as their own. They never told the children they were 'adopted' and were they really came from. Years later norwegians relatives found the now acult children and told them the thruth.

You know when I was in grade school they taught us that the germans made soap and lampshades out of jews.
That story doesn't get repeated too much these days because enough people called it into question.

Who here has heard that the germans wanted to kill everyone who didn't have blond hair and blue eyes? Millions of germans did not have blond hair or blue eyes.

The rhetoric against the germans of WW II is so intense it becomes laughable.

Well its like the story of babies being taken out of ICU units and the equipment
taken back to Iraq were false the last time I checked. Things in war get said to
support the war effort.

I'm not going to trash the German's as I detect a pro-WII_German vibe here.
Its rather simple they attacked the US's friend UK so we helped the UK. The Germans
could not defeat the UK so they attack the USSR. We (US,UK,USSR) then kicked their
a-SS-es. Did we drop alot of bombs on kids and women? Yeah we did. Hitler did not
create hate he milked the hate that the people had. We gave them what they wanted
total war. I do not see in my minds eye WWII and Jews being killed. I see our friend
the UK being attacked so we kicked a$$.

Well, s**t happens, especially in war. If you can't accept what you hear because it makes you wanna go vomit, fine by me.

Anyway we only get to hear what horrible things the germans did, not the allies. The winner writes history, and omits their own atrocities.

I remember one time on the history channel watching a documentary where US soldiers in Japan in WW2 went out and gathered scores of Japanese civilians, men, women, and children, and machine gunned them to death in ditches. Hell even the bomb we dropped on them, it wasn't called for, they didn't need that many civilian deaths.
However, I totally agree with our reasons for going to war with Japan and Germany, it's one of our few wars that I actually agree with our reasoning on. I just think we did a few things we should have done differently.

People should not be killed because they believe in God.

It makes headlines because of the types of torture used and how many of one religion were killed.
This was a vile and disgusting act, clearly a black mark on human history.

Okay, I think you probably are unaware of some of the facts

1)Your statement implies that antisemitism is rooted in atheism. After all, if Jews were persecuted FOR THE FACT THAT THEY BELIEVE IN GOD, then this implies that no Christian or Muslim would ever hate Jews, and this is simply not true. Now, it is true that in case of Nazis antisemitism was justified on eugenics as opposed to religion. However, the Christian antisemitism probably set up a fertil soil for it given the simple fact that it is the oldest of the two. Furthermore, while it is true that SOME Nazis were secular, quite significant number of them were religious and quoted bible to support their views, and Hitler was one of them. In other words, they never persecutted Jews for the fact that they believe in God; they persecutted them for believing in a DIFFERENT God.

2)Even if you change what you have said into more general statement that they were persecutted for religion, it is still not true. You have to remember that there are people who practice religion Judaism (as opposed to Christianity, Islam, etc), and there are people who are GENETICALLY Jewish (as opposed to French, German, etc). Hitler was persecuting GENETIC Jews, so your statement that they were persecuted "because of religion" is simply inaccurate.

3)If I cut you some slack and call Jews a "religious" group, then again Jews won't be the only group persecutted. There were many other religious groups persecutted, such as Jehovah Wittnesses and Catholic priests.

4)Considering Jews a religious group only shoots your case in a foot. SUPPOSE you were right that Nazi were viewing Jews as a religious group. IN this case, all they had to do to save their lives was to convert to a different religion, which is a lot easier than for Koreans to convert to another ethnicity. Now, since I know that Jews are ethnic group, I am NOT standing behind what I just said. I am just trying to point out holes in your argument. Since you assumed them to be religious, I said alright, and lets see how your own incorrect assumptions shoots in a foot your conclusion.




Okay lets slow down a little. I agree the type of torture used would distinguish Hitler from others. But this doesn't imply that it would distinguish one group that he persecutted from all the other groups THAT SAME HITLER was persecuting. If you are talking about different minority group, it is still the same Hitler, so the same torture is still involved.




Like others said, Stalin have killed much more people than Hitler did. And if you are speaking of people killed by Hitler, there were other minority groups he persecutted.

I wonder how many religious jews are not ethnic jews? Probably less than one percent.
