I wouldn't say that AS and Star Wars is related. Star Wars in itself has grossed billions of dollars worldwide in ticket sales.

I have a good friend of mine who doesn't have AS and is a Star Wars film buff.

This Aspie hates Star Wars. I think it's completely boring, regardless of the "episode". I honestly do not even understand why it's so popular. I don't see any reason for that at all.
It's different to other movies I don't like, where I can either understand why other people enjoy them or accept the fact that they just don't match my tastes. But the popularity of Star Wars literally makes no sense to me.

I think the affection started with it being one of the first adult science fiction/fantasy series I saw, I was around the age of 10 then and so it simply was really, really, really cool and because of it having 3 parts there was much more story in it, then it the usual 1-film fantasy films.

I also really liked the connection of fantasy and magic (the force) with science fiction. Its like a fairytale with knights and princesses, with cool starships and laser pewpewpew.... ^^

When I went deeper into it, the extended universe of the additional novels and the comics, I was addicted. The Timothy Zahn trilogy that was released was great, and also many of the Black Horse comics.

I lost my interest, when there was that movies hype. Suddenly because of that hype there were so much books released, and so much of them were simply low quality garbage that disappointed me. End when they ended the Vong campaign, with mashing everything that was left in one book, I was a bit f****d up. I also was disappointed by the new movies: So they are ok and well done science fiction movies, but they are simply 0815 action movies, and dont have that epic star wars touch that is for me linked with the conversations and story. And the Anakin actor is so lame, he simply lets Anakin look like a dumb emo crybaby all the time. :( The animated series also dont get me, I dont like that boxes animated style, everyone is bulimic and squared. XD

But the last book series that were released, I liked again very much. I dislike a bit, that the big series are always written by more then one author, it really disturbs when you read a book that really fascinates you and you read it in a few days, and it is followed by one that seems suddenly boring again becaue of the writers style. I have my issues with the author of the X-Wing series, I dont say its bad, but I personally feel it as a bit boring. ^^ But I understand that otherwise it would take too much time for the series, if there was only one author writing them.

I also like it, that they are more into philosophical viewings of morality now, so when is something good and when is something bad, is the result deciding if something is good or bad or the intention....

I am really sad, that Bioware had to release their Star Wars game to early, I really liked it, but there were so many bugs in it at the beginning that many players choose to leave. :(
