I never used to use the quote tool but Ive been trying it out and its somewhat fusterating to use

the answer i gave last night was from a shallow and pedantic perspective, so tonight i will answer correctly.

when i want to interact with another persons post, i simply press "quote" on their post, and then when i am in the dialogue box, i select the characters "
", and i ctrl c them (copy them), and i ctrl v (paste those characters) at the beginning of each sentence that i wish to address.
then i go back and select the "end quote" characters ("
") and copy them and paste them at the end of each sentence that i wish to adresss, and i space their comments out with those guidelines, and i insert my text between the successive quoted sections of my post.

it is really not very hard. if you preview what you are about to post and it does not look like what you intend, then it is obvious that you have to learn why what you intend to post does not convert to a clarity of general comprehension..

i am sorry for my glib reply last night.

I have problems with the quote feature. I highlight text, click quote and all the text appears in the message body, not just the highlighted text. What I do is delete what I didn't want quoted. Takes more time that way.

Quote button in the upper right corner quotes whole post, no matter what you highlight. So you have to delete it or highlight/copy/paste to your reply and then highlight again and use quote button beside "Message body"

I think b9's description above covers everything, makes very efficient use of keystrokes and is probably the simplest way of managing it.
Some small amount of work will always be required to make the most effective use of quoting.
