How do you deal with taxes?

I collect all of the documents as they come in the mail and put them in a large envelope. Once they have all arrived I do a mini session of totals, then come back to it a week or so later.

I usually go work out in the morning and then come back in the afternoon to tackle the taxes. I just do it the easy way -- since the collapse of the economy I have easy taxes. I use H and R Block online service.

When I have in depth taxes to do, I still make all my categories and totals. Then I make a call to my tax lady and show up in her office with all of it. Generally I spend 30-45 minutes there and I'm done. In a week or so her office will call and tell me to come by and pick up my copy, or they mail it to me.

just as an aside - you can consider yourself at least a little fortunate

I deal with them by having such a low income that I am not required to pay

on the negative side being this poor means in some months I don't eat at the end of the month

How do I deal with taxes?
Unfortunately, I eventually pay them.
Someone said to Mr. Capone that the feds were going to nail him on tax evasion.
Mr. Capone responded that it was impossible, because bribes, extortion gains, and profits from illegal businesses were not taxable.
We deal with taxes the way we deal with its brother, death--not too well.

One of my mom's brothers does them for me, and he's awesome enough to do this for free.

You all are so responsible! I usually take 3 years to do my taxes. I have my completed 2011 taxes ready to mail but haven't sent them yet.

I have always done all my taxes from my original days of employment 20 years ago by hand. I get the forms from the library or post office, all the instructions, and read them cover to cover.

This year I am on unemployment and have way more investments to sort through so I may have to hire a professional and it bugs me. I prefer to be self-sufficient.
