Why does these pages click?
I have the exact same click click click problem that just started a couple days ago too. And I also use Internet Explorer. I know. I know. It's old and outdated. I use XP too.
This could be an age thing. Time just seems to go by so much faster now. I could have sworn I just got XP and just installed Internet Explorer but these days when I "just did" something it turns out I did it years ago and hadn't realized how much time had elapsed.
Anyhow....I guess I'll just turn off my speakers when on WP. Maybe it will disappear as suddenly as it appeared. Or something.

The thing is its most likely not an issue of wrongplanet.
A friend of mine was stuck on a website.
All her friends told her she needed to click somewhere and the damned thing was nowhere to be found.
She called me and I asked if she had tried another browser because explorer gives problems in a lot of websites(there are some websites that are actually designed for explorer and wont work on any other browser by they are mostly done by windows in an attempt to keep it alive still).
That said I know that change can be a bit hard so if this is your main issue I will say you can stick with it for a while at least
Sorry, but this doesn't make any sense. What does the new software (which may or may not be coming anytime soon) have to do with the server being over loaded? Even if Alex gets the new site up and running, but we still have the same old crappy server, wouldn't the problems persist?

Some of the problems are because the software hasnt been updated since 2008 but has been "tweaked" repeatedly.
A clean software should work more efficiently than this patched version that somehow works
The tweaking has created some serious issues for the website in a few areas.

I understand that, but it seems to me that there is more then one problem here. 1. Outdated software. 2. Overloaded server. Fixing one without the other wouldn't solve all the problems.

No, the problems won't persist. The software has been modified by Alex over the years and is grossly inefficient; he wrote it when he was a student and he lacked skills in database I/O optimisation. He's removed some of the irrelevant (bells and whistles) features which have helped a little but the only solution is a custom rewrite. The server is being thrashed to death, hence all the errors. An entirely new rewrite of the software is under way by a software company; presumably it will be designed to handle all the traffic and large database.
I'm a software developer myself and know how important software design is when you have a database containing millions of records. A few slip ups in code design can cripple the speed by an order of magnitude and throwing faster hardware at it doesn't greatly improve efficiency.

OK, then the problem is the software, not the server being overloaded. Which probably makes sense.

The server is being overloaded due to design problems with the software. From what I can gather it is "spaghetti code" and riddled with design flaws and bugs and making any modifications to it fraught with dangers of upsetting something else in the code. Hopefully the entirely new software will bring an end to the problems. I've no idea when it is due to be finished though.

And it's not object-oriented.
And there's probably some 20-30 queries to page, etc.

We, the people on the Autistic Spectrum have a choice.
We can either try to "fit in" with the rest of society, or we can be so egocentric that we can't be bothered.
I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.
