The point you are missing is that it is one thing to change details of a Biblical story, and something else to change the nature of the person in the story. The DeMille version of the Ten Commandments might be a re-telling of the story, BUT all the people are shown accurately. Moses is shown as man who changes from a popular Egyptian to an outcast who realizes he is a Hebrew. The problem with "Noah" is that the BASIC details of the characters have been altered.

Don't watch it.

The problem with the film is that outside influences, which had no financial or artistic say in the movie, dictated the process of the production, IMPOSING religious views on society again, at the same time they re telling society that Christianity is "under attack," the Christian groups pitch a hissy fit and demand their say in the final outcome of the movie. Movie now not worth the time of day, IMO.

Fine, if you want to see a movie that tells the Biblical story about how a god who is supposed to love everyone but decides to kill most of them, including babies and small children, and all the poor innocent animals that didn't make it on the Ark, and if you can ignore the message that everyone needs a mate or else they're incomplete and will therefor perish, refuse to question how two of every single land animal, including tiny insects, are managed to be kept alive on one huge ship without killing or eating each other, or how they provided the food and space and bathroom needs for them, or have the intelligence to wonder about all the trees and plants that somehow didn't get destroyed in the flood, or even why something round and boat-shaped was measured in square cubits, then by all means go do it. But don't tell me I have to see it.

I remember how Pinocchio got swallowed up by a big whale. No whale, not even a blue whale could never swallow a person whole because their throat is actually quite small for their size. But that was okay, because it was just a story and wasn't really true. But Jonah was also swallowed by a whale and we're supposed to believe that it was true. And that'll probably be the next movie they'll make.
