What repeater were you listening to?

I know down in the south west part of of the state, their is only one HAM repeater that covers the driftless area part of the state in Baraboo on 146.88Mhz (If I remember correctly)

That one is a monster though, I can pick it up over 100 miles away.

It was the La Crosse repeater, WR9ARC I believe. Its frequecy is 146.970mhz. It is on a huge bluff in La Crescent Minnesota and can be heard for a greater distance.

When I am travelling on I90 through the Dells though, I get on the Baraboo repeater all of the time. Maybe we can met up on there sometime if I am in the area. My ham call sign is KC2FNN (Originally got my license when I was in New York and never changed it).

I'm not a HAM operator, but I do listen to it via a scanner during active weather.

Winnebego county, where I am now, probably has the best spotter network set up in the state. The whole thing is run with a military like precision.

Listening to it on the scanner is quite fascinating...

K69RG, spotter postion B-12, hail to 3/4", wind from 270 at 45 knots

Very interesting.

Also, on this date, May 8th, back in 1988, a tornado outbreak occured over the upper midwest. 26 tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin, a single day record.

I read that as a tomato outbreak at first and was thinking "Wha....?"
