What's Your Favourite Comfort Films?

The Lord of the Rings, any of the three, are what I put in immediately if I am sick or am feeling especially down. I've also put it on when I was home alone and got scared. I lost count of the number of times I've seen the whole trilogy. I never tire of it, its one of the few things that makes me actually grin like an idiot just because I love it so much.

Frozen. I cried a lot before when I watched it because I felt so much like Elsa, and all that goes with it. But with time it's changed. And How to train your dragon.

Tim Burton's stuff in general. The nightmare before Christmas, Corpse bride, Edward Scissorhands.
Chaplin's movies.
Musicals with Fred Astaire. Yes, I like very old movies a lot, there's something magical about them
The horse whisperer. Not really for the story but because of Thomas Newman's music, and because seeing beautiful Montana landscapes reminds me of the best moments of my life, romantic moments in particular
Avatar, because the movie looks like a dream, and James Horner's music also reminds me of a few nice romantic moments.

Coming from childhoood nostalgia, probably Wayne's World, because my cousin and I would have sleep-overs and watch Wayne's World every time for some reason, LOL.

But if I weren't stemming from childhood nostalgia, I don't think I can enjoy Wayne's World as much when alone.

Maybe the original Project A-Ko movie. It is so random and combines a lot of topics I obsess over all crammed in to one. Plus it has a lot of feel-good cheesy 80's music. Plus I like how A-Ko and B-Ko were strong female leads. The fact they both are fighting for C-Ko's attention amuses me because C-Ko is pretty derpy!

Mine is actually a toss up between The Exorcist and The Shining which is kinda amusing, I watch each at least once a month, there's way too much to analyze and appreciate between them which always soothes me.

I am also prone to rewatching the toy story films repeatedly, these are more so 'comfort' films as I immensely enjoy and get lost in the colourful and insulated world they offer.

Lately, I've rewatched Up and Little Miss Sunshine to cheer me up.

Mine are all from different time periods other than the one I live in - I hate the Century I'm living in.

Tombstone is actually one of my all time favorite westerns.

I love Doc Holliday and I don't mean Val Kilmer. I have this picture on my dresser - I've had it almost 15 yrs. And I wear a lot of Victorian jewelry and hair accessories and lace. My bedroom is even wallpapered Victorian style. I'd give anything to be able to live in that time period. The Roaring Twenties too. I dressed up as a Flapper in a red dress once and was just ravishing! I even had one of those long thingys that held cigarettes! And a boa! And black fishnet stockings! Those were good times.

That reminds me -

I love "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" and "Somewhere In Time" both with Jane Seymour. Those always relax me but make me sad wishing I was there.

My late dad was a big fan of the historic Wyatt Earp. He immensely enjoyed Tombstone, even more than the movie Wyatt Earp.
I admit I liked the Tombstone bad guys like Curly Bill Brocious, and Johnny Ringo the best. Then again, I have a soft spot for the old west badmen in my part of the country, such as Harry Tracy, Hank Vaughn, and Bill Miner. As those are not normally household names, it might be fun for you to sometime look them up.

I have another one. This is close to "Dr. Quinn", but once I saw it I was in love.

Bramwell

It's a Victorian medical show with this woman who becomes a doctor back in the 1800's when it was not considered to be "lady like". I keep wanting to get it, but the 4 seasons are expensive. I want to see it again so much that I just put Season One in my basket. I'll have to sleep on it and decide if I should get it later.
