the best sofa for most folks is one that has firm support all over. soft sofas can lead to back pain.

Good general advice. I also prefer higher more solid backs which can be kinda hard to find. After that I'd say it's more dependent on individual preferences as to which is better. I'm the kind of person who wants to see sofas in person & sit in a floor model before deciding to buy but that may be harder to do nowadays.
