A heavy blanket to sleep under.

And my cat. He doesn't sleep with me (I cannot tolerate fur - or cat butt - in my face at night), but we have some rituals we adhere to on a daily basis. He must sit on my lap when I am online at night, after the kids go to bed. If I am for some reason busy and don't get online, he follow me around and complains. If HE is for some reason busy and doesn't come sit on my lap, I go looking for him.

If I am out of the house for an extended period of time, he demands I pick him up when I get home. Then he hangs on my left should like a baby.

So the heavy blanket thing isn't so weird after all. Cool.

I know what it's like to lose a furry companion, too. My partner all through my childhood was a collie who was born within a few weeks of my birth, who died when I was 9. I still miss him. He and I were more like siblings than any of my sisters and I.

I'm like you. I can't sleep without a blanket, even if it's not cold. I also have a Ganondorf plushie that I sleep with every night. Most people would think that it's weird for a 19 year old like me to be sleeping with a toy.

you see, that's why i can appreciate animals instead of people alot of times..animals don't judge you on your shortcomings, your personality, or anything that might make you unsavory to the typical NT..they love you because you love them back, take care of them and what not..animals rule..except snakes..i hate snakes

I have to have something on me to sleep. Even if it's just a corner of the sheet thrown over my leg. I can't seem to sleep without just a little bit of the covers on me, even if it's very hot. I also have a body pillow that I call my huggy pillow. I can't sleep without it. My bed has become my favorite comfort zone. If I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed I'll come and just lay in bed with my huggy pillow for a little while, and I tend to feel a bit better.

My dog is another big comfort for me. She is the sweetest little thing. She'll lay and cuddle with me for as long as I want. I get along better with animals than I do people.

Of course, my kids. That really just goes without saying. Even though they are often the source of the stress :) Still, a little voice saying "I love you Mommy" and those little arms giving you a hug does make you feel better.

I just have to say that I really envy you people who have dogs/cats/etc.

I'm doing well just to keep up with my own expenses, let alone think about taking on an animal right now.

From birth up until about the age of 12, I had my blanket (yes, my baby blanket or "blankie"). And I also had my big stuffed St. Bernard, Puff. I called him "Puff the magic doggy" and he was generally my pillow at night. I believed that if I slept with him, he would keep away my bad dreams. And for about 9.9 times outta 10, he did. I still have him though I don't sleep with him anymore. He desperately needs to be cleaned.

Then when I was ten, I got my cat, JonJon. He lived outside the first year of his life. And then when I was eleven, we got him neutered (poor guy) and brought him inside. Once he came inside, he started sleeping with me, and has been my best friend since I've known him. He is 14 now, and still has a good amount of vitality in him (I have informed him he is living at least until he is 20). He sleeps in my arms generally. And these days, generally Sugar comes and sleeps on my side--ugh! She's kinda heavy. But I let her remain there. I am kind, lol.

Whenever I venture out of my apartment anywhere other than going to my mother's house or on a small errand of some sort, I always bring my book bag with me, and a couple books etc.. This is comforting, bringing a part of my interests with me.

I also find pillows very comforting, and when JonJon finally gets down from my arms at night (he doesn't stay there the whole night) I grab my second pillow. I sleep on a couch and I also find the back of the couch comforting so I can nuzzle up into it. And I have six pillows on my couch as well. Three normal sleeping pillows, one very large square pillow which matches the couch, and two small throw pillows. I enjoy cushy clutter on my bed-couch.

And last, I tend to find books soothing. So, if I don't feel obliged to bring my entire book bag, I will simply bring a book. I love my WS book, Hamlet. It fits perfectly into my hands and I can roll it a bit if when I am nervous. It's generally my book of choice if I am not in the midst of another one.

I do the same. I have to have at least a sheet in summer, no matter how hot. I really would prefer a heavy blanket with the a/c, but my husband objects strenously when I try to toss a blanket on the bed in the middle of the summer. He's sweating even with the a/c, so I wear pj's and a sheet.

i've slept with the same teddy bear since i was 13 - i'm 40. he's all full of holes now, ratty and messed up, but i guess so am i.

i've tried to get a new teddy but then after a night or two with my old one on the floor of my closet, i feel bad, like he'd feel abandoned (i know, i know... but i can't help it), so it's back to old teddy.

i don't think i'll ever get rid of him.

i used to have to sleep with pillows over my head but i got pretty anoxic with the sleep apnea so i had to give it up.

it was very comforting, tho.

I still have soft toys, yet I do not play with them much. Instead I mainly now do target practise.

This is my teddy bear. His name is Bear (yeah, I know. Creative). He sleeps with me though I usually don't cuddle with him because my cats get jealous. Aye me...

-I don't have to sleep with a stuffed animal (or 10...) anymore, but I *do* need something covering me, even if it's hot.

-My eyemask is necessary for sleep, and not just for blocking out light.

-I have to have my watch (yes, its face is scratched) with me at all times (ha!), because otherwise, something's just "wrong".

-I couldn't live without my tongue piercing and labret, which I play with/chew on incessantly (probably to the horror of my co-workers, who undoubtedly think I'm mad. Oh, wait. ). I honestly believe that I'm able to concentrate/focus on tasks much better when I'm fiddling with them.
