You sound like a fascinating person. You will like it here, we are just like a family. We laugh, talk and fight like a family.

I had 7 ear operations and an 8th to repair a stab wound. I was deaf sometimes and normal other times. This also complicated my life and was used as the scapegoat by my mother to explain my odd behavior. She doesn't agree with the Asperger syndrome diagnosis and still claims that my on and off hearing loss was to blame for my poor social abilites. My mother used to have deaf kids board with our family. It was a learning experience. I used to know some sign language but forget most of it now.

I think I'll go start that 'any aussies here?' thread, so we know who we all are. The brits have one, so I think we should too.

Post subject: Little Aussie Newbie!
-----------------------------------------
Hey hey!

I'm Annelise, and I'm an Aspie! I did a bit
of an Aspie search, and wound up here,
liked it and joined! I'm 19, live in Melbourne,
Victoria, Australia, was diagnosed at about 13
years of age, am doing an Arts degree at uni
with a majour in Auslan (Australian Sign Language)
and love cats! I'd love to get to know some more
Aspies: when I first got diagnosed I rejected the
idea and hated it, but I recently stumbled on a
LiveJournal communities for Aspies and was
amazed at just how well I fit in! (I feeling I have
had precious little of through the course of my life!)
However, I haven't ever met anyone my age that I
know has Aspergers, although I *am* friends with
a 4-year-old with Autie tendancies: she's gorgeous!

Well, feel free to give me a buzz: I virtually live on
msn messenger, and my address is phoenixkitten
@gmail.com .

Annelise

Hi, and welcome to a very austrailian filled
web site.

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

Woo hoo, thanks EVERYONE for the chummy welcome! *grins* And yeah, I noticed there are quite a few Australians in here: I approve! Everywhere else is packed to the hilt with Americans and Brits!

*group hug* :)

Weeelcome! :D Yet another Australian, here. How d'you do? I, also, love cats. Gorgeous creatures they are! I'm sure you'll like it here - I've not been here too long, either, but everyone's been really nice.

Welcome again! :D :D

Yesss... the "best" state. Remind me again, do you have electricity and running water over there?

Haha, who needs water when there are rivers of alcohol? A survey came out that Western Australians drink more than Eastern States; they use more sleeping tablets, more pot, and more ecstasy.
Other than that, yes, we have water (for who wants it) and electricity. But tell me, do you have running water over there? Yes, you're just running out of it! We've been having lots of rain. Our dams are at 27% capacity. We also have the best football players, the best Australian soccer team, the best looking city, the most sunny capital city in the world. Hmm, what else? Too much to list. :D

It's good to see more southern Hemisphere people here.

I'm from NZ, and I love Australia, from what i've seen of it.

Psst hale_bopp, you're supposed to pretend to hate it, like we do with New Zealand!

I dunno danlo- Melbourne is the worlds most liveable city, so it must be doing something right. Maybe that means we have less zombies and undead. :?
