Whether it was a short time, or a long time. Whether its the 1st time, 3rd time or 20th it doesn't matter much. It's how much that relationship, that person affected us that tends to dictate the severity of the hurt. I suppose some people have an easier time letting go than some. When those of us that do get hung up on these things people will often say, "They just don't understand how relationships work". I think that's quite unfair. A persona can understand how things work and still have feelings of devastation. The mind and heart don't always go along in sync or agree.

When it comes to those of us on the spectrum, no matter what our 'norm' may be I tend to think that when we do feel, we very well may feel more than average. This is where we end up shutting down, melting down, are unable to transition etc. So if there is a time that we connect - something we normally have a hard time with, whether we intend to or not we may get more emotionally wrapped in that person and so when they leave it leaves us completely out of sorts.(this is putting it mildly in some cases.) That isn't going to be everyone, but I suspect that its how it probably feels for you. It's how it's felt for me; just watching as they hold your heart and then let it smash to the floor like nothing.

I'm sorry you're hurting.

One of many reasons why I usually avoid social interaction

Ok. I slept most of the day and ate a whole cake by myself.

I am sorry it didn't work out for you to be with this guy and I cannot imagine what you are going through. Yes, it may feel awkward but the best you can do is focus on taking care of yourself. Believe me, if you feel sad about the breakup, then allow yourself to feel those feelings. Same with feeling awkward as well.

I am so sorry to read about this experience you went through. It is devastating yes, but time will be one of many factors that will help you move forward and recover.

What type of cake? :D
Cheesecake is my Achilles heel, I figure that on the days that my appetite is affected by depression any food is better than no food, I usually take a multivitamin "to add more value" to my diet that day lol.
How's the week shaping up for you?

Carrot cake. My favourite.

This week is better. I saw him in the distance today and felt ok.

I've got some new york style cheesecake in the freezer that I'm trying to resist.

I'm with you on that one for what it's worth. I'm not much for cake but here's a good AI song about them.

I love that! What a shame I can't send it to him. Ordinarily I think he'd enjoy that too. But that line :

"Even though you've broken my heart, even though you killed me" oh my, too raw to send that.

I feel this great weight on me when I have to pretend I'm ok around our acquaintances. I don't want to tell everyone my business, but I also feel weird at how life is just going on as normal. It's like the matrix has reloaded and only I've noticed.

MATRIX... Yes. It is like somehow just a few of us are able to notice things like that. Everyone else seems to not aant to stop and think and look what they see etc. I realize your perspective has a slightly different meaning. Should have taken the red pill (Or was it the other colour?).
