Gues I just always thought she’d be around. Never truly imagined life without her. We weren’t as close last few years, she had a stroke and family agreed to not bother her about life issues anymore and I guess I’m he only one that followed through, whichcame at expense of our relationship. We’re use to be very close and talk most nights, then after 3 years ago I’d see her holidays and when with family taking her groceries and things, we didn’t talk much. Now i dont know what to say to her beside I love you. And do our love you more game. I wish we’d kept close. I wish I had more to say to her now. Soon she’ll be gone and I’ll be left with sorrow and regrets

Work gave me a card for place I can call when time comes, but I probably can’t and I can’t talk to my family about it as they going through it too and have enough themselves.

Share those feelings with her now. Tell her you love her, but also share your good memories. Tell her how much she means to you, and why she was so important in your life. You don't need to give a lengthy explanation about why you've spent less time with her, but reassure her that you're with her now. I'm really glad your work is being supportive. Take it one step at a time though, Sly. Don't worry about those details now. Just focus on your grandmother and your own wellbeing.

(( Hugs ))

Sly, if you want to honor the memory of your grandmother, start getting your life together, start working out, and throw away the "it's too late for me" crap that you seem famous for in these forums out the window.

My life changed when I lost my dog, this might be the loss you need to begin your new life. As much as I loved my dog, losing him really jumpstarted my life and got me out of the mire I fell in. If you continue life, when she is gone, with a defeatist mindset then you will certainly be dishonoring her memory.

I never had a connection with my grandmother, or my mother for the matter. I have a physical mother but we never talk, knowing a mother is virtually unknown to me. Consider this as a great leverage you have in having a grandmother you were close with, now use that leverage to gain momentum and purpose in life. Find a purpose outside of romance and outside of videogames, something more divine than the vanity that's in the world. And use the promise of reuniting with your grandmother in heaven as fuel to motivate yourself to do good in the world. Find a sense of duty. Men with a sense of duty can't be stopped, they're a wrecking ball that's just blasting through the walls in the maze of life in pursuit of the goal. But to become that you need to manage well the small details in life, for me, it started with working out each day, which then dovetailed into bigger goals and a stronger ambition.

But take time to mourn when she's gone, but you best not let yourself go, you would be shaming her memory if you did, and all the attention she gave to you would have been for nothing.

My sympathies to you, Sly. I had about a week to say good-bye to my mom before she passed away. It's still rough.

Big dragon hugs for you and your grandma. I hope you can have some good time to visit with her before she goes, and that she doesn't suffer too much.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost my mother in 2013, it was the hardest thing for me to experience. We were close, like Batman and Robin." ;) My heart goes out to you. I remember the night she died, I was driving home and I had to pull over and cry. I pulled over into the local Toyota dealership and just sat there. I kept the radio on, the engine was off and after I cried, I fell asleep and I woke at 1 AM, thank God the radio did not take much off the battery to start the car up. ;) Crying is OK, it helps to get it out of you, bottling it up is no good. Still, I do realize life goes on although it is really not the same, even Christmas isn't what it used to be but at least I have my father, step mom and step siblings.

Christmas will suck. We always met at her place and it and other holidays at her place was only times family got together so without her our family will stop seeing each other.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I wasn't raised by my family and had only one strong childhood connection with someone who killed themselves a few years ago. I fell like my whole world fell apart, and despite having my own family now I'm still grieving for her.

Try to be kind to yourself if you can.

Actually, real men DO cry, particularly at the loss of a loved one. My dad cried his eyes out when his father didn't have long to live, and that was the first time I had ever seen him cry.

I'm very sorry to hear about your lovely grandma. It must be very sad.

No one knows what to say.
I reember when my Grandad died. The night before I juat knew and I think he knew. I felt so much that I needed to hug him but I couldn't. I froze. I am not a huggy person but I so much regret it.

The only thing I can do is pray.

I send my condolences.

I hope she didn’t go in pain.
