Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he came back as SaveFerris1.

that's a really weird take on something that more than likely was a mistake or could have used better judgement. the mod area isn't as lively as you think it is - i wish it was though.

anyway i've restored the posts.

Given the secrecy of modes, bias of mods, and post just disappearing of people outspoken against the mods. Can you understand how one would get to such a conclusion?

Really starting to feel like East Germany :s

Lot of tension on wp that’s been building up for years.

It’s not quite the same thing as what went on in East Germany.

There's no "corruption" among mods as far as I know. I certainly didn't have anything to do with what the OP was complaining about.

I don't understand Sly's comparison to East Germany.

I am sorry about Ferris too, but he needed a break from here and I'm sure it won't be permanent.

East Germany operated under secrecy and censorship as well.

Few of my posts were deleted with no reason. Why last night. The transparency here is zero.

I’m quite afraid if I say wrong think I’ll be disappeared as well.

Online forums/communities aren't owned by the community members. They're not democracies. The reality is that the owner of an online forum can run it any way he/she sees fit. And provided there is nothing illegal happening on a forum, the owner absolutely can be autocratic and can instruct his/her mods to moderate any way he/she sees fit including being objectively unfair. The community members who have no ownership in online forums can choose to leave or stay. That's the reality.

I say all of these things from personal experience thinking about a different non-autism related forum that I belonged to for about five years and with tens of thousands of posts in contribution. There were periods of fairness, then there wasn't. Mods started playing favorites and started to selectively wield power, not against people who were in direct violation of the forums rules, but against people they disagreed with politically. The tide on the non-autism non-political forum turned in late 2014 early 2015 when a section of the forum became politically heated. Opposing but civil viewpoints were stifled. Participating on said site felt like I would imagine communicating in a communist or fascist country would be; under fear of being banned for offending the mods rather than breaking the rules.

I left the site after never being banned nor ever receiving any kind of warning whatsoever.

Anyway, the reason I explained this is because members of that site took umbrage at the unfair nature of moderating and a mod explained the obvious reality I outlined above in the first paragraph.

Mine too! I'm sad to hear this.

I like the guy but I wouldn't call him a a moderator.

Honestly we're aware of the fully privatized nature of the internet but we're pointing out that these autism support forum(s) site(s) are basically lies at face value; we also aren't asking for democracy nearly as much as we're asking for a socratic environment instead of high school.

My main point is that if high school it be, or the playground, or anything else Alex and by way of Alex the mods want WP to be, then ultimately that's the way it will be.

As a member, he was fun and funny. As a moderator ... well ... maybe he did need a bit of a holiday. I’m sure he meant well.

Ferris wants to be finished for good with WP as he considers it an unhealthy addiction for him. I think in part he did what he did to take himself to the point of no return.

In all my years on many forums, he is only second person with whom I have been willing to converse with outside the forum via email. Which from my perspective means that he is a person of very good character.

I agree with you Sly that posts along with people tend to disappear around here. There is one outspoken member who's sudden disappearance makes me wonder if he was secretly removed.

Well summed up, although he's not the only one here for whom WP became quite an addictive special interest.

Getting too personally involved can affect one's health, and recall a certain incident on here a long time back which was deeply emotionally distressing for me.

Personally I do not get emotionally affected by stuff that happens on a forum. At least not anymore. But there are things that leave a bad taste in my mouth as the saying goes.

Maybe I overreacted in this. I was concerned because a person had actually come to see my line of thinking on here, some problems were actually being looked at properly, then our conversation was immediately deleted, and I wondered why on Earth there was any need for it.

As for being emotionally affected, I don't see why it is viewed as unhealthy. I don't let it affect my everyday life if that's what you think. I really do feel sorry for the younger, inexperienced ones on here who get bullied by the older members. Persephone spelt it out perfectly in the other threads. There are real people behind those posts and they are affected by peoples' harsh tones.

There is so much social blindness in here, it even makes some of you look heartless and militant. I do not say that lightly. I'm pretty sure none of you are exaggerating the strict ways you stick to the rules, it just amazes me.
