yeah well ... some peoples realities actually suck ..in real life.. and if at a loss for places to be when the chips are down ..... hoping for capacity to share ,hopefully be understood.. is misunderstood from perspective of a occassionally recognized faulty mental process . Then if references apply ... in this case then apolgies are offered .. occassionally as have seen capacity for empathy can go 2 ways and occassionally .thought some hope or insight was being offered. So less seriousness.. And little less altruistic nature . But allow for what the opposite recognizeable attribute could be ..?
Hoping this thread serves one well . strictly from just one individuals perspective.
Wait .... define Altruism.. If life were all just about posting silly pictures and less humane curt opinions then we would all be the same. hmmm...?

and am not a member of any gang of trolls or even just one. but have been victimized by some of the best in my past .
So without further regard on this topic :Thank You for your Concern. men.

How does one know if someone's concern is feigned or genuine on an internet forum?

I meant this definition.

Quote:
concern troll
noun INFORMAL•DEROGATORY
noun: concern troll; plural noun: concern trolls
a person who disingenuously expresses concern about an issue with the intention of undermining or derailing genuine discussion.
"he is regarded among climate scientists as a concern troll"

I'm not really familiar with that particular type of trolls, but I'd say the same rule applies to them as any other troll: if you think someone's a troll, ignore them (also report them if they're obvious enough, but never answer them.) Ignore the replies they get as well.

In my OP, I thought I said that I saw it on other forums. I forgot to include that. I don't really see concern trolling happen much at all on WP.

It does happen here though from very few members that I have noticed. The current latest troll fashion seems to be harassing people with alt right or other offensive memes, some probably harvested direct from trolling sites. The nastiest memes are used as a personal attack, ie directed at another member in an abusive way. More common here than the concern trolling.

I remember when trolls where just nuisances, like kids can be, playing pranks, but now the trolling seems much more multilevel and widespread and toxic, and "just ignore it" isn't really functional - we are still confronted with its toxic presence, whether you respond or not.
